Ok so, the Didact, the main antagonist in Halo 4, shown to be very very powerful, is killed in the game in a mater of seconds… In a lame quictime event. I don’t understand why 343i would do this.
Halo 4’s Campaign was amazing, the story was incredible, the final mission started off epic! It seemed so promising, but after all the hard work 343i put into the game, they just blow it by making a lame ending. I was expecting a boss fight against the didact, but he wasn’t even a boss, 343i just pulled a ‘Call of Duty’ and had a really short and lame quick time event to kill the didact.
I don’t see why they would let such an awesome campaign down with such a lame ending. Whoever thought up the idea of killing him via quicktime, instead of a boss fight is an idiot and should be fired from 343i. If Didact returns, or there is a new main threat, he better be a boss fight at the end of Halo 6, not a cop out quick time. Even the Guilty Spark boss battle at the end of Halo 3 was more epic than the short battle agaisnt the Didact, he wasn’t even a boss.
I wish they could have ended the campaign on an epic note, Like with the warthog run in Halo 1 and 3, or the Tatarus boss fight in Halo 2, Or holding out until the end like in Reach. Halo 4 had the worst ending (in terms of gameplay) out of all the Halo’s, had the Didact battle been a bossfight, this would have been the best Halo Campaign yet.
Did you ever consider that the Didact isn’t actually dead? It’s the Forerunner Trilogy. Chances are this short “lame” ending was a temporary pause in a 3 part story arc.
in Halo 2 the final boss the brute, I didn’t feel any fear or epicness, he just felt like a hunter… just dodge and attack… just using needler when he was without shields and boom death.
In halo 4 I think it was the best option to do that. And like the didact had those powers it wouldn’t be easy to create a gameplay battle.
Has you said, that ending is just a combination of short gameplay and death cutscene.
I feel the mission did end on a epic note, the Broadsword run in combination with the epic battles within the Didact-Bornstellars ship was amazing.
Especially attempting to keep the Crawlers at bay while the Knight Commanders constantly pursued you, just made it feel like it was the final push you needed.
The final battle against the Didact-Bornstellar was perfect in my opinion, you incapacitate him thanks to Cortana stalling him enough, and if you dont he crushes you like a ant.
No lame chase the monkey or monitor for several minutes battle. Instead John was given a chance to end it right there thanks to his long time friend, giving him the opportunity to stick a Pulse Grenade to the Didact-Bornstellars armor in a attempt to end the chaos or die was simply epic.

That’s cool and all but I the consumer am paying full price for a full game, not a temporary pause until the next game.

> That bit reminded me of the last parts of Star Wars IV: A New Hope with Luke in his X-Wing. Dunno why, just did lol.
>
> Aye, I do think the battle was abit lame but I really think it’s not the last time we saw him.

The broadsword assault was epic, as I said the level started extreemly epic, but ended on a lame note, Didact should have been a boss fight, or not even killed at all. Even if he does return, it was still a lame way to end a grand campaign.
> I don’t think he’s dead, he’s faaaar too powerfull to be killed like that. Also, you hear him talk after the credits.
His speech after the credits was deirected to the Eccumein Council, and was from over 100,000 years before the Halo games. It was just meant to show that humans are slowly taking up the Mantle.

Doesn’t matter, there still could have been a fight.
I found it incredibly disappointing. Worse than Tartarus and thats saying something. I didn’t even realise that we had to be holding the controller at all times even during what appeared to be a cutscene so the first time I died, suddenly it turned into Shenmue.
Absolutely terrible ending. At least with Guilty Spark there was a bit of a fight.
