The "feel"

I think everyone should go play some halo 3 matchmaking. After that play reach. I want the old feel back, movement, br battles, nade physics, jumping, map flow etc. Overall it just felt better. Felt right. I can’t be alone here lol. If halo 4 can manage to feel like that and they balance the new armor abilities, perks, loadouts/custom classes. This halo could be going somewhere

That doesn’t change the fact that I don’t believe AAs will ever be balanced or that everytime I say perks in halo a little part of me dies, but I guess all there is now is to hope it turns out all right. Especially with the halo feel…

i, personally enjoy reach more than halo3, i just cant figure out why :stuck_out_tongue:

zips flame suit

as much as i love the “old” feel i want something fresh and brand new. and i have went back and played halo 3 and it feels kind of slow to me i dont know why

I want a new feel for halo 4. If I wanted halo 4 to feel like 3 then I’d go and play Halo 3, if i wanted it to feel like Reach then I’d play Halo Reach. Halo 4 is a new game in itself so it should feel new.

but jk jk man everyone has there own opinion so ua jk

Well, technically Reach “felt” better. There was FAR less aim acceleration and things look more crisp.

But in terms of flow, Reach was just a bad game conceptually and had a lot of contradictory gameplay elements along with bland maps that were designed to work with multiple gameplay changing AA’s that alter how a map must be designed. It ended up being poop.

I think Halo 3 was terrible, but the reason you think it flowed better was because it was simple. There’s far less variables in gameplay, no bloom, no stupid AA’s, everyone moves the same speed…etc. When things are consistent like that, everything seems to make more sense and feel smoother, which of course I approve of  . Only thing I liked about Halo 3 was the graphics (I personally like them more than Reach), and the non hitscan BR and Sniper. (I am not ignorant to the problems this caused for bullet registration either, what a shame…)

I’ve always thought Halo 3 was just a dumbed down slower version of Halo 2. I think Halo 2 felt far better in terms of gameplay flow, movement and grenades than Halo 3. Post patch Halo 2 of course. Strafing was tighter, the maps were much more “fun” IMO, and just generally the XBL community was more tight nit back then since it was fairly new and only people who were actually gamers for the most part were the vocal majority. But I digress, I’m just reminiscing at this point.

Halo 4 is looking to have great animations which is something I absolutely LOVE in my games, tighter strafing and crisp graphics. I hope the grenades are bouncy as hell and don’t just lay flat on the ground after they land. As for the feel of gameplay, well we don’t know enough to say really…but I hope things that are obvious like death animations are well done. I really enjoy the little things like seeing a guy get knocked off his -Yoink- when you shotgun them, or head shot them. Hopefully the animation for a melee trade isn’t so stupid like it has been for quite some time…

But none of the “new” concepts being introduced to Halo are new at all, they’re gameplay mechanics from Reach (Armor abilities, loadouts) and every Call of Duty ever (join game in progress, custom loadouts, spec ops, custom weapons, etc)

If you truly wanted something new and fresh for Halo 4 it wouldn’t have any of this

Halo used to be an innovator, Call of Duty borrowed ideas from it back when both games were at there infancy stage. It saddens me to see the roles reversed and how every major first person shooter is a cod clone, Battlefield, Crysis, Goldeneye (ironically I think Activision snagged up its rights and had a cod team have their way with it)

I don’t know, it better be damn impressive. And I think it’s safe to say all us doubters will need to have a demo or a beta or something. I’m not sure about my investment in this

Halo 3 feels slow and unresponsive, because it is, and feels completely off, as though you’re drunk all the time, because of outrageous aim acceleration which basically makes it unplayable. Not “right” in any way at all. Also, the overall feel is besides claustrophobic and cluttered because of poor cluttered hallway maps.

i personally enjoy 2 more than 3 and reach.

unzips pants

puts on flame suit =P

I like the feel of HALO 3 more then Reach but they both have good points and bad

i would like to mix the 2 and make a game for everyone

In other words… he wants Halo 3.5

I’ve played halo 3 recently as well. I think your nostalgia is clouding your memory, it feels clumsy and less fluid. Reach felt great, AA’s even have been a more useful way to implement equipment, ya know things originated in halo 3, cause i’ll be honest i only ever used power drain and regen and even then if it wasn’t in my path i made no attempt to obtain them. putting them in on spawn and giving them a recharge was smart and not only that but innovative, a word i think we could all use more of, lets get something new, and by that i don’t mean the copy n pasted from CoD version of what we seem to have coming to us.

  • also zips flame suit*

PS: i like symetric maps and smaller arenas, that said reach gets hate because it has crap like boardwalk and powerhouse where you get too much travel and few fights. only countdown felt like a real map and its overplayed for lack of anything else worth a crap

  • got a fire extinguisher too *

Fixed. Now it’s a perfect argument.
