If you don’t play your ranking games early in the season you have no chance of getting a higher placement without having already placed high in previous seasons.
Tonight a friend of mine ran on a new account, we win all 10 of his placements and he gets platinum 1 with a 10.1 KDA. This isn’t even the first time this has happened to not only myself but friends that I play with. I’ve had 2 other accounts with perfect records, one that got plat 1 and the other got gold 6.
I’d like to clarify the majority of these placement games are played against onyx. Not low ranking opponents.
Yeah, sounds about right. Though when you do your placement matches shouldn’t have anything to do with where you rank after finishing them all. Anyway, the system seems to take into account previous season’s rankings when applying ranks for the current season. So it stands to reason that for brand-new accounts with no previous season’s rankings, the system applies a base ranking after placement matches just to be on the safe side. I’ve heard Plat 6 is the highest a new account can achieve, but I haven’t seen that myself.
But in any case, the fatal flaw can be fixed on the player side by just ranking up to where you believe you should be.
Nothing wrong with a system that considers the previous seasons rank but that fact that perfect records against high level players only yield platinum 1 and gold 6 is proof that the queuing games are almost disregarded completely. 10 wins in a row with a high KD should be plenty of data for the ranking system to determine you don’t belong so low. This game also cant seem to match you against higher level opponents when you win games. You’d think running on a flawless record would yield champion level players but no. You still match people in platinum and diamond.
