The face of John-117

no one has ever seen the face of John in any halo games. that is a known fact, he is faceless. 343 has stated that they will go in-depth with Master Chief in the new Reclaimer Trilogy. So this made me think, “will they show his face?”.

What i think they should do is in the very end of Halo 6 (before you argue, Halo 6 is already confirmed.) as a legendary ending after the credits, have the Chief remove his helmet and finally show his face. Just for a quick second.

edit: i enlarged my last paraghraph since some of you are arguing that my idea should be saved for the end of Halo 6. which is exactly what i stated, but some of you are too lazy to read and are “disagreeing” with me when in reality you are agreeing

You cannot put a face on him. It will ruin so much of his character that people love.

Its better if they leave him faceless. I mean 343 can make john remove his helmet and maybe we can see the back of his head or maybe another longsword can block it like they did in halo CE :stuck_out_tongue:

I don’t want to see his face, not even if he dies in Halo 6. Like many people have said, if 343i showed his face it would ruin his character

They should never show his face, it would ruin everything. His face is his helmet and I don’t wanna see what’s behind the visor.

if they do it better just be the back of his head. It would kind of ruin his image it they showed the front.

If they are gonna show his face, what I doubt and hope that they wont because it just brings mystery around Chief. If they will, I support the idea that at the end of Halo 6, after credits, and completed on legendary.

I’m hoping for more near-reveals, e.g. in Combat Evolved where he took his helmet off but the Pelican bodywork obscured it just in time. But actually showing his face would completely ruin the character. Chief’s helmet is his face, if you get what I mean; it’s what we’ve come to define him as. There’s no way a reveal can work.

It is a hard one for me. Im torn between:

  1. Masterchief is know for ‘not having a face’ and his helmet/visor is what makes him such an iconic figure. I would prefer they stick to what made the franchise and character and leave his face unrevealed.

  2. Only and ONLY if the ending of Halo 6 or whenever/if Masterchief dies, it would make an amazing ending. Surrounded by enemies, low on ammo, nowhere to run and finally removed his helmet at his last few moments. I know this is hard for people to imagine, I guess you all have your own endings in your head but for me this could be a possibility. Question is, cinematic or not?

I really can’t decide.

If the Chief’s face is ever revealed, it shouldn’t be until the end of the trilogy with Halo 6, and not until the very end of the game.

They only show his face when he’s a child. After the augmentation operation, his face is never shown again.

I hope they dont remove his helmet. I like to think of him as a spartan, nothing else

I’d like to see MC unmasked, but not until the end of Halo 6.

And really, why not use the face of the voice actor who voices him (Steve Downes)? He’s got a ruggedly handsome face. Maybe tone down some of the wrinkles, otherwise his face would work quite well, IMO.

It will only work if it helps his character, like in a moment of catharsis or if he beings to lose everything, then it would be cool.
