The Expectations of a single player.

While reading this think about what things in Halo that once existed or do that affect you or did in positive manners. Take that feeling and express it if it we’re to return or stay. Thinking about how if it did would re-capture what you remember Halo as.

One aspect removed, removes a memory from us all.~ KogaGmente III

So one thing that particularly bothers me about he upcoming Halo: Infinite is my concerns about how it plans to feature itself with things that it releases with. Such as features from Halo that once existed in Halo, but long since been removed. I’m talking about expansive exploration, Elites, Detailed Customizations, LoadOuts, and Game Modes all they way down to the parts of Halo that focussed on that 1% of players. It concerns me what the game will launch with. and how much of it.

Like me I am a Sangheili Fan, and Machinima fan. Having things like VIP, King of the Hill, ODD Ball, Juggernaut and Race, for example removed really affects all aspects of Halo. I feel as if 343I focuses too much on removal rather than adding. Not having these minor yet important game types really affect all aspects of Halo. This includes Fire Fight and Theater mode campaign. Being a Sangheili Machinima Director who relies on the aspects of Halo, a single thing removed will not only affect me but literally everyone else. I think it’s really important that 343I looks at what made these modes work and why for a community.

For example, Dominion. Though it wasn’t that popular I thought it was a fine addition, but it was removed in Halo 5. Now talking about Warzone I’ve always imagined what would’ve made Warzone better. What came to mind was this Dominion mode. Adding the aspects of Invasion as well. I mean imagine adding Fortifications, turret defenses and Spartans vs Elites and weapon Drop in Warzone. That sounds a lot more fun doesn’t it? It combines adding new elements while also being really fun and able to cater to the fans of these lower remember game types. Hell even VIP could becoming something like that.

I have a video that roughly explains this from the perspective of a Machinima Content Creator/ Gaming YouTuber. Halo: Infinite - Wishful Thinking.

It’s not so much focusing on removal as it is not having enough time to finish the game before its scheduled release date. I don’t think they “focused on removal” and said hey let’s get rid of firefight and campaign theater mode. Instead, they probably focused a lot on creating Warzone and the req system, which took up all their time, so they didn’t have any time left for firefight, BTB, Infection, post-game carnage reports and all that other stuff that was added after launch. This is why I have high hopes for Halo Infinite because it seems like 343 is taking their time with it.

If you release your game when it’s half-finished, and then finish it over the following year with monthly content updates, its population will plummet immediately.~ Nate00000000000

I do agree. It’s really important they try, actually do more than try, and settle for nothing less than perfect/compete. I’m a firm Believer if they do this, and everytime. Halo will re-grow.

They need to find the formula that made the first 3 Halo games Infinitely replayable. No pun intended.

There’s one small detail that I love about those first 3 games and especially in Halo 2.
“Swapping guns with Marines”.

That is the single coolest thing that’s ever been put into any FPS game in my opinion and yet it’s been completely forgotten after Halo 3.
Just simple Marines that you can save and that follow you around, with Infinite ammo for any weapon. No pun intended again.
Not an obligatory squad like in Halo 5 where I give them a beam riffle and they then use a BR or whatever.

Some of the coolest moments in the original trilogy for me are like:

  • Legendary Sniper Alley on Outskirts where you give all 3 of your Marines beam riffles and snipers and you go into that hell hole together. You take out the sniper jackals while they pick off drones.
  • Or in Gravemind where you bust your -Yoink- to save as many Marines as possible from the jail to then arm them all to the teeth with beam rifles to help you clear out the rest of the mission. It’s so hard to keep them alive but it pays off massively if you get them past the Hunters.
  • Or in Metropolis where you get Stacker on the Gauss cannon and another Marine with a Rocket Launcher. Gauss Hog. Is there really anything more badass than riding around in a Warthog blowing -Yoink- up left and right?
  • Or like Tsavo Highway where you can get 3-4 Marines with Fuel Rods before the Phantom section. Those guys will bring the pain to any Brute that dares to show up.

You know? There moments are what I love most about the old Halo campaigns. And those kinds of moments are sorely missing in the newer games.

I thought you could throughout Halo 4 and 5? I remember in Halo 4 you could but it wasn’t worth it as you could only swap smaller weapons.
