I think most people will agree that every Halo game should have some changes to look forward to. But there are definitely core elements that should be reinstated from game to game because they’re what defines Halo. Of course, this is all subjective and everyone perceives this in their own way, and there have been many arguments on the topic. So, here I’d like you all to define what exactly constructs the core Halo experience for you and what should not be removed ever, for any reason.
For me, it starts with the weapons. Each should have a unique learning curve and the classics should always have their place. Equal starts goes along with this.
Something else important is the music. Bring back the OG soundtrack for the Prophets’ sake!
So that’s me, what do you think?
Good Halo MP just needs to have these 3 concepts placed into each of its elements while building upon what was already established.
Fairness, equality, and balance. Things need to be fair so no custom loadouts or AAs so everyone needs to be on equal footing, we all need equal access to things and have to compete for them. None of that delivered to your feet crap. And balance is just a must. This overlaps everything as it’s what binds the game together.
Halo’s campaign hasnt needed much as it’s generaly good and just needs cohesion with the MP so there are no to few campaign only actions.
What defines a good Halo game for me is first and foremost the holy trinity of guns, grenades and melee. Now with Halo 5 that core trio has stayed intact, but they have added a 4th pillar in movement/slight parkour, and I honestly feel that movement was that ONE thing that Halo needed to improve on. I believe that Reach and 4 both tried to interpret this 4th pillar and kind of failed, but H5:G hit the nail on the head in my opinion and I guess the 3rd time is the charm. Also, smooth, hip fire dominant gunplay is a must. Awesome grenade bouncing physics, and rag doll physics ( nothing better than tea-bagging a dead player and hearing/watching their body bounce underneath you) should always be in halo too. And of course you’ve gotta have shields, even starts, balanced weapons, good map/art design, and one of Halo’s inarguable strengths… Amazing graphics.
