The end of Master Chief?

I’m not quite sure if it’s the end of Master Chief or not? Presentation started off talking about John-117 like a legend, but someone who was no longer alive & they’ve also announced the Master Chief collection, which almost seems like a farewell to the greatest video game protagonist of all time…

Can someone clarify?

Master Chief is alive, and in Halo 5. It was just explaining that he left on his own and the Arbiter and Agent Locke are trying to find him.

I imagine it may be more of a dual campaign.

We play as Chief, doing whatever the hell he disappeared to do.
Locke (Clarke? I’ve heard/seen both) will be on Chief’s tail. Following a similar journey, learning what Chief has set out to do and the things that surround it. Perhaps seeing the aftermath of the things Chief does, such as a battle.

It’ll be like Halo 2; parts of the game you play as Chief, others you’ll be the new agent … that’s my guess.

If you never played as Chief, it wouldn’t be Halo 5 … only he gets the numbered games.

It’s Locke. He’s the same character from Halo Nightfall (Marlowe). Frankie confirmed both earlier today in a spike tv interview.
