So there is an element tat kills humans, and nothing but humans (sounds great!) What is it? Most likely forerunner if its on a Halo, but at any point it could have been left by the flood, covenant or something new (gremlins?) Where did it come from? Is it a solid/liquid/gas? That "element’ I don’t think is a rock. It’s either connected to the composer in some way or since we’re going back to the first ring the flood. My vote is on the flood since they target intelligence and know humans are smart.
"Humans are smart" Ive watched about 300 mmarines walk off a cliff, but yeah, it could be a big death laser of death, which is more likely forerunner coz they like their big orange lasers… Flood like plants, so it could be a type of poison or something…

"Flood like plants" Wasn’t aware the forerunner fought them over salads… I vote for a Blue Laser since they already used the orange for the other lasers. Theres always the chance it’ll be something that formed from melting forerunner tech.

In the trailer we see an Elite falling onto the ground with a black orb in his hand, in slo-mo of course. A fall like that couldn’t kill an Elite, and the orb is slipping out of his hands. I have a sneaking suspicion that the orb is very much related to the element.
Zomborb? Flood balls? (Don’t take that out of context!) I saw a guy break into meat chunks, so the flood is becoming more likely, 343, we’re on to you!
