The effect of the Geas

Does anyone else here wonder how the Geas bestowed on humanity by the Librarian has affected certain characters, like the Master Chief. Because the proof of John having a Geas was in Halo: Fall of Reach, remember when John accessed the console to activate the light bridge on what was the level “Halo”? He pressed the triangular looking button and Cortana asked “What the hell do you think you’re doing?!” (or something to that effect), John just said that he thought it felt right. The only way he would know that is if he had the ffect of a Geas.

are you high?

First off Welcome, and you will find a lot of fun and many hours arguing here in the forums.
Second off: I hate this whole geas thing, it is a spirit and it does not belong in a halo game. Keep it sci-fi 343, don’t turn Halo 4 into mass effect 3( with that god child -Yoink-).

Sounds about right. That said it doesn’t really make him special. Fred had a similar feeling when driving a Wraith, after all Covenant stuff is pretty much a rip off of Forerunner stuff. Lots of people have demonstrated understanding of Forerunner stuff.

This

I’m sorry but I have no clue what you are trying to convey.

> are you high?

get out.
What OP says makes sense. There was SOMETHING whether a geas or not, that affected chief.

A: I am not high, the proof is in the pudding.
B: The Geas is not a spirit, it is the collection of memories of usually many individuals as in the case of Forthencho, Lord Of Admirals, he was the memories stored within Chakas. He was later extracted. Keep in mind we only use effectively ten percent of our brains in active thought, that’s like having a 250 GB Hard Drive and only using 25 GB of it.

Its not a spirit. It has to do with technology…
-_-
The forunners where tech gods. They manipulated minds with ease.

My apologies to any and all who do not understand what is being discussed. If you don’t understand it is probably because you have not read the Forerunner saga, first of which is Halo: Cryptum, which is currently on it’s second installment written by Greg Bear. I recommend the books though they are some what difficult to follow. If you would rather not read them yet, or it is an inconvenience, you should be able to get the necessary information from Wikipedia, or another relatively reliable source.

It likely has something to do with the librarian and other forunners having the intention for humans to be reclaimers.

Yes, but it is liable that the Geas has affected key members of the UNSC throughout the war.

Ahh, that would explain it. No, I haven’t read the Forerunner saga (yet). Sorry for the misunderstanding.

I agree with the OP, definitely seems like that with some things not only the Chief has done but also other characters…that little voice in your head telling you what to do, it really is somebody else s memories…hah!

And yes the forerunners were able to convey the information and do this with technology it is not a “spirit” or whatever, it was done by technology and science. I think it puts a good spin on the whole story honestly just look at 343 guilty spark…oldest human around.

Quite alright tL Armada, it’s understandable I also recommend another series that will be reflected in Halo 4, the series by Karen Traviss, beginning with Halo: Glasslands.

This this…

Nice idea. Sounds pretty plausible since the librarian spent such an extensive amount of time on earth.

Never heard of the Geas until now, I thought you were high like everyone else did for a second.

It would be interesting If John had a unique Geas as it can be unlike all other humans. I’m certain key characters in the War and Lore have them. For example, Prof. Anders who was able to access Forerunner tech as if she already had do so in Halo Wars. Perhaps Chief’s luck was not really luck but a geas. It would make sense as that is who Cortana picked and she also has Forerunner Data in her.
