Is not quick enough to be a last second save, or strong enough for someone to prioritize to go and pick it. Right now it is actually more advantageous to not use it or pick it, so might as well not be in the game.
I agree here. its utterly useless other than if you need to stop some grenade spam in a very specific doorway. And even then the repulsor does it better. like its such a specfic use, it hinders you in a fight since you cant fire or do anything else as you deploy it. meaning it is actually not even useful.
Since the drop wall has the weak point at the base, I think it would make sense to strengthen the panels. I agree that it’s currently underpowered and I don’t use it much at all as a result.
I’ve used it to some good effect but lately the time it takes to drop it is more than compensAted that the opponent can tear right through a panel with the BR and get a headshot in the same time period.
I agree to some extent. Sure it works on stopping instant kill damage like rockets or sniper shot etc. But compared to the bubble shield what does the drop wall do better?
Bubble shield - Neutral equipment that is workable for both enemy and user’s team. Increasing the golden triangle of melee.
Drop wall sort of does but not really. I think it needs to be reworked maybe like an amp damage? like bullets shot thru do a tiny bit more damage? (but doing that will seem like its just more towards a limited use armor ability)
I don’t know that it’s not working as intended, it blocks many projectiles and most explosives fine and zones out objectives long enough to matter, but it definitely feels imbalanced vs certain weapons [battle rifle]; the deployment time is the biggest problem. There are two delays, your character being unable to fire, and the shield falling and popping up. Only one needs to be faster, I think.
False. I beat a guy who got me 1 shot because i strafed into the Squares he hadn’t popped yet.
Or maybe you’re just not good with it. Bubble shield was so cheap. The only buff I’d give to drop wall is it’s deployment time
I find the drop wall is more useful as support in objective based games, think an extra bit of cover for a teammate around a corner. Watching HCS this weekend was eye opening for me in the case of equipment use and map traversal.
There were a number of times where I saw pros use the drop wall to save themselves or teammates.
I do agree though that it needs to get buffed one way or another.
343 be like “insert Nicolas cage you dont say meme here.”
The thing is many don’t want to buffed where it’s cheap. Drop wall is balanced af.
But this is by design. It is not supposed to be an instant deployable indestructible wall like the bubble shield from Halo 3. It’s use case is much different.
I find it’s best used preemptively when you know you are about to have an engagement, especially around corners and slight lines. Deploying just before an enemy enters a lane gives you the immediate advantage in the engagement. Sure, it’s wall will be destroyed quickly but in the time that takes you should be able to land several shots that very clearly give you the health advantage and lead you to winning the engagement.
It has a learning curve to be sure, but it’s not useless imo.
Strafe and shoot, don’t stay behind one ‘block’. I started doing that and it went from bad to good.
If it doesn’t pop up fast enough at least increase its throw distance, increase its cover to 180° so that even if it doesn’t land facing an enemy its still covers itself and you. Or make it eat up ballistic ammo, ricochet explosive up and away, plasma and electric eat through it.
If not, have it zap grenades that are thrown over it, a two prone defense.
Or bubble shield, electric multiple hits can disable, pulse can push it away.
Definitely think it deploys way too slow, but that’s just me.
I disagree. know you are about to have an engagement? You guy’s nerf the Halo radar.
I feel so used to the Reach bubble that this thing has only gotten me killed lol
It’s definitely low-tier equipment, the only one that might be worse IMO is thruster.
But it has its place if you use it like those above have said, in a preemptive fashion. Help protect teammates, corners, or nade spam. I wish I could deploy more than one at a time though.
It’s not a last second save, it’s a strategical advantage that’s also a bonus grenade deflector. It even allows you to move up if there’s nowhere to go and there’s a dude poking you with a long range also.
AKA You don’t actually understand how to use the items in this game and your only way of playing is attack.
Thruster? Literally the best equipment in slot? LOLOL
