The downside of the coming updates.

There’s nothing to complain about regarding the updates themselves, as we don’t know much about them. Hidden in the post (New Halo 5: Guardians Free Content Detailed as Hammer Storm Launches Today - Xbox Wire) however, is a sad bit of information.

11 free maps have been released.

A number of us have wondered if community-made maps count towards “free DLC,” and it appears that they do.

Overgrowth, Riptide, and Urban are all considered distinct from Plaza, Fathom, and Battle of Noctus, respectively.

Guillotine, Recurve, Basin, Antifreeze, and Deadlock all count as “new” maps, despite being created in Forge. This is significant because Forge maps have always been free, but now they’re being delivered as if they are comparable to real DLC.

Add in Torque and you’ve got ten maps, rather than the 11 that we’ve received so far - either I’m missing something, or they’re counting the Grifball Court as DLC.

Make no mistake, the upcoming DLCs look like they could be quite impressive. I just find the map counts that are being advertised a bit deceptive. The BTB maps are still terribly buggy at this point. From the looks of it, developer-made BTB maps simply aren’t going to happen.

343i said that the forge maps DO NOT COUNT

The link posted directly contradicts that. We have not received 11 developer-made maps.

You missed Entombed, but still… Sucks that these are considered “DLC” content… Too few maps

Where is your proof that 343 stands by this?

then they would of already broken the amount of maps being added in back when BTB was added and the additional maps afterwards. Go look for past links and posts made by them instead of asking us to go look for it. and their proof is that they probably should stick with their word considering they are on rocky ground with MCC. Companies usually try not to blatently screw the community and lie to them. It’s bad for buissness.

No offense here my friend, but I am not the only one questioning 343 right now. Never heard 343 say , you can trust us, recent topics could very well not be true so for now im giving 343 the benifit of the doubt. Its not about armor like some say, its about good old fasioned trust. A eula give them the right to go back on their word. But that doesnt mean you can take your word back or that its right. Now I am not saying that has happened, but after aweek of chaos n losing players, I am causous as whether I personally feel like a valued customer who can count on a game to get that feeling back. I can only say what concerns me. I bought many copies of this game for friends n Family and my own Boys wont play anymore. Trust is important to me. One should rember that most always you no longer here from peple that dont play anymore. I am sure 343 is under some stress too as of course they are people to so I do keep that in mind.,;~} What if I dont want the update? It has nothing i need or will play that I have heard.

… That’s not how proof works.
