My boyfriend has spent countless hours over the past year trying to get to max rank in Halo 5, all the time super excited to get this extremely exclusive skin in Infinite… only to be given a bland grey and maroon skin that barely even differs from the default color scheme. He and a dozen of his friends are SUPER bummed about it and feel totally cheated, because well, they have been cheated. 343 Industries has to change this or they will completely lose credibility when they say they’re genuinely listening to player feedback.
The downgrade of the armor coating you get for reaching SR152 in Halo 5 is definitely not acceptable

For reals… I love Infinite, but 44 days of in game play time, and the coating reward is barely noticeable. Literally any of the for sale HCS Armor skins look more rare, and/ or better lol… The weapon skin looks really good, but again, looks almost like a buyable one. I know everyone has different tastes, but that H5 grind, needed a reward. For example, I hate the color red, but I know alot of other people love it, therefore I won’t complain about that being on the armor. It could be fully red, and I wouldn’t mind, if that armor didn’t look like 7 other armor skins people could readily get. That being said, no Spartan items I can recall, has a red scheme. All the red coatings, are from the Covenant, or Brutes. I don’t get the choice of red, at all. Nor do I understand the emblem being the one everyone was disappointed with as the sr152 reward in h5 either. It’d would’ve made much more sense to make it like a armor effect attachment alone. That noone else could get. Like say blue, or black helmet flames. Then the store could sell whatever other color, but that one. A clear discernable difference. My hope is it’ll get fixed at release, or later. Who knows, they may even give something else at a later date. Other than that, Infinite is so amazing I could cry

Well, this makes me feel a little better… I could only stomach playing up to rank 149, the grind is just way too slow and boring in Halo 5 so I gave up a couple years ago. At least I didn’t miss out on anything except a Core-locked armor coating that I don’t even see anyone wearing.

It’s not core locked, you can even put it on the Ninja outfit. If you even did run across anyone with it on though, unless you knew to look. 0.001 shade lower than every other silver skin, you’d be hard pressed to notice it. Hence why we are upset lol…
I’d be willing to bet, the version shown in pictures will be showing up in the store at some point, probably bundled with some other bs and will cost about 2000 credits… it’s just not right smh
If it does, I will have lost all hope for anything special earned in Halo. I’m still holding up hope that it’ll be updated later, when any potential bugs with the release, is ironed out, and stuff. If you do end up being able to buy something that (me for instance spent 44 in game days to earn), I don’t see that going down. If I had a dollar for every hour of in game time I spent on getting this, I’d have $1000.00 lol, I just honestly don’t understand why they didn’t choose for the reward to be something more unique. I’m not downing anyone, or their choice to do what they did, as they could’ve easily gave no reward. I just think if their is a legacy reward, it should be something that stands out. Like working for the katana, or recon, back in the day. The same goes for any reward in my opinion. Like I personally don’t like doing LASO campaign, so I haven’t completed that. If they give a reward on Infinite, for say all LASO on MCC completed. I don’t think the reward should look anything like something you can get in game from the store, or any other reward, that can be misconstrued as that reward. If they do a Achilles legacy reward from 5, to infinite, same goes for it, and so on. It’d be cool for a reward to be given to those who have played every Halo, and been there from the beginning too. Those 44 days of game time on 5 are but a drop of water in a puddle from my Halo time 
I truly feel bad for players who did the SR152 grind, the armor coating doesn’t look that appealing for the work that goes into acquiring it.
now that i see the coating system, it doesn’t worth all the grind needed to reach 152sr
I wish we could get the halo3 or even halo 4 style armor color customization and instead unlock special colors instead of coatings.
Why are there coatings to begin with? Why can’t we just pick the armor colors of each piece? this is a no brainer and would be a great customization but they predefined all the color combos.
