Before you instantly start bashing me about the weapon, or anything in general, just hear me out.
Realistically, the bloom on the DMR doesn’t even effect its accuracy, which is one of the reasons that people hate being killed by it; it’s a pseudo-rapid fire precision weapon that is able to snipe people from the other side of the map, without missing a beat.
Now I go back to the burning question: why does it even have bloom?
The hitboxes on the player models are so large in Halo 4 that, even from very long distances, you’re pretty much able to “spam shot” until the enemy is dead–often times–without missing a single shot.
My suggestion is to either make the bloom on the DMR more like the one in Halo Reach, or remove it completely, seeing as how nobody “paces” their shots in this game anyway.
Also, please don’t hate me because I have an opinion…just like everybody else on the planet.
If the bullet magnetism and aim assist were not as high as it is now(on every weapon, this is not an exclusive DMR complaint), then the bloom would actually make a difference. When shooting against a wall, the spread of the DMR should be enough to cause missed shots at long range, but it does not.
The bloom is there to help make you miss at close range. If you shoot your 5 bullets at someone standing still at full speed there is a chance that once of your bullets wont hit him in the head.
Add in the fact that usually you AND your opponent are moving and it increases the chance that you will miss.
The BR doesn’t have any bloom. So it usually wins. IF they miss of course.

It doesn’t really have “bloom”, I think it’s been said that the bloom purely cosmetic. The DMR had bloom removed to make the game as skill based as it can be with that weapon. I respect your opinion, and agree that the DMR is slightly too powerful at every range. I don’t think we should punish people that use it though with reticle bloom, that’s too much luck and not enough skill. I do think the BR should be a 4 shot kill, and I think the carbine needs a slight bluff. Hope this explained something too you, and maybe you’ll agree with a buff to the other weapons.

Remember to attempt to lead your shots BECAUSE of the burst fire. You want your two out of the three bullets to hit where the person is going, NOT where they were.

9 times out of 10, if I ever happen to be in a close-quarters DMR battle, spamming the trigger always works and I usually do not miss enough to lose the firefight. This has nothing to do with the bloom, considering if people are moving around, missing shots is almost inevitable.
Also, you don’t really need to lead your shots all that much in this game; hitscan usually takes care of most of that.

It’s still hitscan, I never lead my shots. If you lead them, you’ll just lose to the guy aiming normally so don’t do it.

Aim at where they are, and focus your reticle on them. The shots will land instantaneously.

stands up and takes off jacket
So you mean to tell me that when someone jetpacks straight up into the air, you just aim at their feet and your hit scan lets you win the 1v1? You don’t try to aim up at his head? Or maybe just above his head before you pull the trigger to try and make sure your bullets land? You don’t lead your shots?

I see. Well, the bloom is there to help you miss. Even if it doesn’t work that way all of the time. It works enough to throw me off. Missing triple kills and such cause i’ve pulled the trigger too many times.
Who’s unhappy? I have no opinion on the DMR itself, just the fact that the bloom on it is useless.
I use the BR avidly; I generally have no trouble killing people who are within range of the BR’s usability. In larger maps, I obviously change to the DMR or the Light Rifle.
