The DMR Problem, a Different Perspective

I’ve noticed that a lot of people have been complain about the “OP-ness” of the DMR. Yeah, I agree that something needs to change, but even after any change, this weapon will still mess up the game. This idea is something I’ve been thinking about for some time. IDK if this is original, but I just want to see what you guys have to think of it:

Let’s look at Halo 3 first. What we had in this game was this epic weapon we know as the Battle Rifle. I believe I can say that most people, including me, had enjoyed this game so much more than Halo 4. From thinking a little, I think that the BR’s range may have made the game interesting. Let me explain. Unlike the DMR, the Battle Rifle kind of has a limited range when you scope or no scope. What I mean is that at longer ranges, people would have a difficult time killing an enemy on, oh idk Valhalla or Sandtrap, because of the lack of auto aim at longer ranges. Maybe because of the fact that people could actually walk around without being shot made the game much more fun? Add the spread, killing people at these longer ranges would actually be very tough, thus making people live longer between deaths.

Now lets look at Halo 4. We all know that the dominant weapon in this game is the DMR thanks to its obvious advantages. I propose that one of these advantages, the range, ruins that game for people. With this increased range, players are able to pick of anyone at almost any distance. This would require almost no skill at all since players could quickly 5-shot anyone from a relatively safe area. Add the DMR to Halo 3 and people would have died much more frequently because of the increased aim. I guess what I am trying to say is that the beacuse of the super-large range of the DMR, people will die more frequently, thus ruining the game for some.

I hope I have conveyed this idea well and i hope this makes some sense to you guys.

Edit: hmm. No one cares. :frowning:

So, the reason why people like the DMR in Halo 4, is because of the very same reason why people liked the Magnum in Halo: CE, the BR in Halo 2/3 and the DMR in Reach?
