I believe the DMR holds more value considering certain factors.
- It’s a single shot weapon so there’s more skill there as you have to be completely on point so whiff shots aren’t so much a thing
- It’ll be better Desync wise. The Desync in infinite is heavy and even more so with the BR. The BR is only a four shot theoretically, unless all 11 shots connect and last one on the head you won’t get the kill. Say you shoot a guy and one bullet in your burst doesn’t register you’re SOL. Single shot is far more forgiving.

I don’t strongly disagree or agree with replacing the BR, but both of your points contradict each other? It takes more skill and it’s more forgiving, which is a wash.

Not sur it would be more forgiving. But at least you can count the bullets that did hit.
I’d like the DMR to replace the BR as a starting weapon in competitive playlists.
it is if you are playing with a controller. If it gets replaced in ranked the mnk will have more chance for defending themselves. as it stands now br on mnk has more skill gap than dmr with no bloom.

Lmao the BR on mnk is terribly inaccurate and impossible to be consistent with. A no bloom
Single shot weapon be far better and balanced
It’s more forgiving Desync wise it’s not contradicting. It still takes more skill in a general sense as accuracy is rewarded more so than lucky shots.
I think it would be more forgiving as the server and client only need to recognize ONE bullet, where with the BR it needs to recognize THREE. You need 12 total shots to register.(that is if you hit the head) let’s say hypothetically you’re not missing but still lose, one of the 12 didn’t register
The DMR shouldn’t even be in the game at all that is what the Stalker Rifle is for. But 343 and Bungie employees never change so they keep repeating the same cycle over and over again. By coming out with Non Human Weapons then replacing them with OP Human versions of those weapons. The problem with Halo over the years is 343 lack of imagination outside of Human Warfare for Arena Multiplayer and coming out with some other mode for players to play that still PvP but not Arena gameplay.
I was watching someone on YouTube who was suggesting the DMR should make a return because it’s more MnK friendly than the BR or something. Idk, I didn’t follow the logic and that’s not the point.
What it made me think about was what if the BR had a mode switch? I believe canonically it can switch from single shot to three shot burst, but we ain’t ever seen this in a game. What if the BR functioned similar to the H4 light rifle such that zooming it switched the fire mode to single shot?
Just thinking outside the box. Idk. I’d try it out.
I just saw a video rumour has it that the DMR will be relased with season 3. That being said, They showed a new rifle that kinda looked like a BR it it was not a BR. Who knows?
Peace!

So, you don’t understand the BR and that’s fine, I didn’t once either.
But you can’t whiff with the BR either. No, if you want a 4-shot, you need to maintain about 11/12 of those shots and you need to land 9 on the body before moving up a bit and firing your finishing burst.
A consistent 4-shot player has to maintain accuracy for at least 11 shots. A 5-shot and 6-shot player aren’t even in the same accuracy ballpark - but to 4-shot consistently, you need to be on target the entire time. With a semi-auto, so long as your target is in your sights as you pull the trigger, you can have moments of error between the shots.
The BR does not allow this for a perfect.
As for the Desync thing… Nah. I’ve never lost a kill to desync - not from my BR. But I have on grenades.
I know a really good Onyx who plays KBM only and wipes the floor with people hard. Trust me, it is not impossible.
Look, regardless, I want the M392 Bandit to come on in, I love that gun. I’m really interested in the fact that it has callouts because that implies that it might be a power weapon which is… Weird! But that wouldn’t make a ton of sense - or at least won’t until we get our filthy little hands all over it.
Point is the BR is a very skillful weapon. I used to not think so too. Then I started climbing ranks proper and… well, yeah.

I disagree with it being replacing it, but to have something to compete with the DMR
You obviously play at 5 ping a game if your BR registers 100% the time huh

Why not have both weve had it before and honestly not sure why the br wasnt in reach or odst considering how close in the games timeline it really all is and the fact that the dmr wasnt present in the original trilogy and was only added for reach
I’m not sure overhauling they entire ranked playlist with a weapon that isn’t even in the game would make things “better”. The desync is a beast of its own.
I’m not so sure of this being the move. We haven’t even seen the DMR in action. Plus, going by what’s been released, it looks like 343 has other plans for the weapon.
If you’ve been researching Infinite’s DMR, the AI implies it to be a power weapon. What I mean by that is one of the AI’s lines says something along the lines of “Bandit rifle imbound”, which is the Infinite’s name for the DMR. It’s called the “M392 Bandit.”
AI’s never inform you of a weapon arriving unless it’s a power weapon. This is all subject to change, of course, but I don’t think we should be expecting the same DMR we’re accustomed to.
I don’t understand the point of this post.
You’re not going to have the BR removed from Infinite and future Halo games because it’s your preference.
The weapons can fill the same role but provide different experiences too.
At most, you might have the BR or Commando replaced with the DMR in MP in certain map loadouts, but that’s about it.
The Desync issues aren’t even weapon related and can be improved over time through patches and better netcode.
I don’t know, I’ve always hated the DMR personally. I get the appeal, but the way it made Reach feel is the reason I don’t play Reach.
Just use the commando as a single shot weapon, it reduces the recoil and already has a faster ttk than the br
