Am I the only one that hates these things? I spawn and immediately get spammed, they take out most vehicles before you can get them rolling. They’re basically a flawless weapon that you spawn with. It seems like every weapon up until the DMR had a weakness. Anyone else think they’d enjoy Halo better without it? A playlist without DMRs butt all other weapons perhaps?

Here’s a Feedback Thread. Go crazy.
Generally, the people who complain about the DMR are those who don’t understand how to use it or lack in skill when wielding it.
- Please explain further what your definition of “spamming” is,
- “they take out most vehicles before you get them rolling” - that seems a little exaggerated.
- “a flawless weapon” - not really.
- “every weapon up to the DMR had a weakness”, ever used the BR?
That takes care of that.

No you are not the only one who hates them. This fact alone means that you are not special in that regard.
The alternative is AR starts and those are not much better, in fact much worse because despite those who defend it saying it promotes weapon variety, it’s really the same thing. Those who are smart ditch ARs for power weps and DMR/NR anyways so…
Therefore i purpose Magnum starts or dare i say, Target Locator starts. The latter is not possible…yet but that would be crazy as hell with bottomless clip, broken gameplay though.
Magnum starts (no secondary) would force people to find other weapons because the Magnum doesn’t have much shots on spawn. People would sprint for other weapons so that they have a back up weapon in reserve and thus go for kills.
I still prefer DMR starts though.
I believe you are in error. The alternative in Reach is AR+Pistol starts.
And unlike Halo2 or 3 where we got almost useless Pistols (when not comboed) to Reach’s gesture of a x2 scope precision weapon that is more than capable as a hunting device, but best used as a last defense, to compliment the AR.
That is by far a big difference I feel was missing from 2 and 3. SMG and Pistol starts weren’t worth a damn against a BR or Carbine. Too much effort required there.
The AR and no Pistol was not a good start for Halo3. At least the Pistol could be used as a finisher, though it was slow to pull out (and fire).
In Reach, the AR and Pistol are capable killers in capable hands. One does not need to be an expert to kill with the combo against other weapons. Such as it was with CE. Not so with 2 or 3.
It requires too much effort to kill with the dualing weapons and the AR was not always reliable with the connections.
I Pistol out and AR finish if I haven’t found a weapon yet, but that’s my choice. That the AR is a more capable (but needing more umph) choice is great. That the Pistol is a paced-killer or spamming defender, freaking awesome.

You spawn with one too. I don’t mean to comacrossss as rude, but I feel like most of the people who hate the DMR are people who do not know how to use it.
Just have better map awareness and know where the other players will be shooting from. Spawn, then look to those places to shoot those people before they shoot you.
The DMR has so many weaknesses compared to other starting weapons…
- Can not compete with close range weapons
- Inaccuratennacurate if not scoped in
- It is in Halo Reach… so most people have no clue how to use it
- Destroyed by anyone who is peek-shotting
- sloImagineimes
Immagine HR without the DMR… What would you kill people with? The Needler Rifle? Its bullet magnetism is absurd and does not work at high level gameplay. how would you kill weak people at distance? (which is necessary for teamwork) The NR does not work properly and the magnum spread and bloom make it useless. It would play like an un-competitive, non-team oriented game with no central weapon, which is the opposite of Halo.

Not the most expected post in the world when it comes to legitimately defending AR+ pistol starts. It’s just preference really even it’s different from my own and i can respect. I just don’t think AR’s by themselves it take as much skill to use because of bullet magnetism
DMR starts IMO have more versatility since i can take on opponents at long to medium (except at close range, it’s much harder to kill sprayers at this range).
I can however, agree with the pistols from 2 and 3. Both are lacking without a scope due to dual wielding. 2’s a bit more worthless but at least 3’s is viable (but still requires dual wielding to more effective). If the opponent had a BR/Car in either games, then you would die unless you have grenades or play smarter. AR/SMG wouldn’t help because their specific niche in close to medium range. BR/Car were stone cold killers.
