The DMR is ruining my Halo 4 experience

EDIT 3/29/13. BS Angel, how dare you.

At 1:02:32 BS Angel makes fun of the guy asking about the DMR. Isn’t she like a community leader? Has she not read countless complaints? I wish someone would have asked them what their personal opinion of the DMR was, and how it fit into the sandbox. Don’t they have playtesting to prevent broken sandbox items from ever making it to the final game? I just don’t understand. Perhaps I over react about this gun but if it were taken out for 1 day, I think we could all have a better match making experience.

EDIT: Ok so what I mean to say is the all 4 marksmen weapons(BR,LR,DMR, Carbine) should be on the same level. Yes, there are different play styles associated with them, but most of us can agree that the DMR is generally better in any situation compared to other weapons. That is my opinion. If anything, they can boost everything else to better. I just want everything on the same level. I never see anybody with the lightrifle or carbine as their most used weapon. I know these weapons take more skill to use, but the DMR performs to good in any given situation compared to other guns. If you are going to call me unskilled, look at my stats. I at least have a 1.3 K/D so give me a better reason to say why I suck.

Please lower the amount of power weapons available at any given time. Ordinance drop power weapons and power weapons that spawn on the map at the same time!? What were you thinking 343?

Please explain to me how it balances out correctly with other weapons. Actually, don’t even try. Why? Because any attempt to correctly explain the DMR as a “balanced” gun is irrational. 80% of people’s service records have the DMR as their most used gun. I know people like it from Reach, but where are all the BR fanboys? Is this gun ever going to have it’s settings adjusted? Because I am waiting to have some real fun. Also what about playlists with a “Tean BRs” or “Team DMRs”.

It is so easy to pick people off with this gun. I am forced to hide more often than any other Halo. I even do better with it than any other gun. I should not do good simply because I am using a different spawn weapon.

I don’t care for it in spartan ops or campaign. It’s like a power weapon!

There already is a BRs playlist. It’s called Throwdown, and that’s where all the BR fanboys reside.

Saying the DMR is anywhere close to a power weapon is overreacting.

OP, I used to agree with your view on DMR, and in some ways still do. Now that I’ve had to change my play style because of DMR, is isn’t as effective against my lightrifle or BR as it used to be.

I agree that it has less disadvantages than the other scoped loadout weapons, but still, it hasn’t been near as annoying as when I first began Halo 4 MP. IMHO.

The DMR ruined my Reach experience. Yet, people wanted to limit the game down to just that weapon and got a TU pushed to make it even worse and more OP.

I was hardcore using a BR/AR load-out with stickies and jetpack. I hate using the DMR…but lately, I tried using it as a secondary, ie AR/DMR with the same other settings.

I took people out like the trash. I went with a K/D ratio of 9 one match. ME. I went …NINE??? OMG! I mean, I’m the perennial bad player chick with a K/D ratio of .72!

I may be changing it up on a semi-permanent basis…OMG I am succumbing…LOL

.
I stopped playing Reach after the title update. I hated everything they did expect when they made active camo and armour lock weeker

I don’t understand the DMR hate.
I tend to use the BR and I usually win my short to midrange battle against the DMR like I should.

We wouldn’t want our designated marksman rifles being the most powerful/accurate in the game. Harumph.

Sarcasm aside, this complaint isn’t new. Plans are well under way to make the BR fanboys feel loved again. There is a mid-April TU coming out and it will focus on weapons balance. Bravo said so in the Majestic unveiling.

</mark>Do you think those people were happy with the TU?

The DMR is not the best primary, just the easiest to use. If you persist towards learning and practicing with different guns though, they become just as deadly as any DMR believe me. I forbade myself from using the DMR, any human primary for that matter, about a month or so ago and have since developed an LR, carbine, and suppressor that frequently make DMR users scratch their heads wondering how they got destroyed so badly.

I don’t get why people always use the DMR? I always change it up, I play games with just the plasma pistol sometimes.

The DMR is ruining a lot of my friends halo 4 experience.

The DMR is a utility weapon. It does decent in all ranges. Think of it as the beginners rifle. The other weapons have niche roles that preform better then the DMR in those areas because they are built for it.

For example the DMR can win in close quarters. But AR’s are BUILT for close range so they have a better chance at winning in close quarters. Thats what i’m talking about. Now apply that to the rest of the weapons.

So what if a decent skilled player is using the AR and player B comes in with the DMR and beats him in cqc. Its a safe bet that the DMR player was a higher skilled player then the AR user thus accounting for the win.

Halo is about player skill and not the gun in hand. This logic still applies to halo 4. So basically what i’m saying is if a DMR beats you chances are he out played you. Because he was more “skilled” then you.

I’m sick of people offering their idiotic views on the DMR when they don’t actually know anything about its stats. Here is why the DMR is overpowered compared to other primary precision weapons:

1- Has approximately the same kill time as most other precision weapons (BR and Carbine, Light Rifle when unscoped, yet is equally effective at all ranges on any map, unlike the other guns.

2- Has greater bullet magnetism than all other loadout precision weapons at all ranges, while also being hitscan. Try this out yourself or look up ‘bullet magnetism’ videos on Youtube for Halo 4. The DMR is almost difficult to miss shots with.

The DMR is boring.

Except no.

so glad that there is a TU dedicated about weapons balance.

I agree with you OP becuase the DMR is slightly over powered. The way i think is has an advantge is becuase you can shot long range with ease. Ohter than that the DMR is fine. Also note medium to short range BR beats DMR whilst DMR beats at long range

As you can see its even odds

It may not be close to a power weapon, but it is sure as hell is powerful. More so than the other rifles.

^ DMR is not OP. Why can people not understand it. DMR= LONG RANGE
BR=MEDUIM TO SHORT RANGE

It it was vice versa everyone would say that the BR is OP but it wont be.

Also can someone tell me the difference between BR AND DRM

DMR=1 BULLET
BR=3 BULLETS in one shot

anything else?

I stopped at “Tone down power weapons.”

Oh and favorite weapon goes in every mode. I only have around 150 more DMR kills then assault rifle but I have around 5k DMR kills from SpartanOps.

BR has weaker bullets and all 3 will not always hit.

BR might win against DMR if they wasn’t moving but the DMR is one single powerful shot.
