Do you mind toning it down a bit?
It’s more that the other utility weapons are underpowered. I’d be in favor of a buff for the carbine and BR. I think they nailed they automatic weapons, though.
How come nobody had a problem with it in Reach…
Actually, I think it’s pretty fair. The DMR is great for long range because it’s more accurate then the BR. The BR has a faster rate of fire and kills people faster then the DMR. That is, of course, if all the shots hit.
> How come nobody had a problem with it in Reach…
Because it wasn’t destroyer of worlds in Reach. Not to mention so many other things were wrong in that game that it probably got overlooked.
> Actually, I think it’s pretty fair. The DMR is great for long range because it’s more accurate then the BR. The BR has a faster rate of fire and kills people faster then the DMR. That is, of course, if all the shots hit.
This is false. The DMR is superior at all ranges. Not to mention the DMR actually has a faster rate of fire and kill time than the BR. Check my file share, I did a comparison video of all precision weapons.
And yet again, we reach that point, same thread, different user.
Just as the others did, you have forgotten the key things of Halo, you fail to take into account the skill of the players, the map, and the situation, and that’s just generalising it.
I do usually do good when i play and i can say that the BR is not underpowered at all, i do fairly well against DMR users, its all about which player is better and more accurate.
Now i assume your wondering, why would i defend a weapon i rarely ever use? becuase i don’t want to see this games balance screwed over the misconception that the DMR is supposedly OP, which i think it isn’t, it being OP or not is an opinion, not a fact. And while it does kill slightly faster, that doesn’t mean every shot will land.
The BR, Carbine, and LR are all good weapons, you just need to learn there strengths and weaknesses, take the time to learn there strengths and use them to your advantage.
In time, as you learn the maps, the strengths of the weapons, how to effectively use your AAs, how to best use your grenades, how you work with your team, and much much more, the DMR becomes less of an issue.
I die quite a bit more to BR users. DMR users usually get quite uncomfortable when you get in their face. If you weakened the DMR, it would be a niche weapon for only the most latency-friendly, top-of-the-line aim players.

Lol you’re kidding right? Did you not participate in the forums during the reach beta and launch?

This guy is one of the few people I have liked to read. He is very right. The map, the player, the situation all determine what is the best weapon to use. On Adrift I wreck faces with the BR, on Complex you cant even come close to the DMR. THE MAP, THE PLAYER, THE SITUATION all make up which will be better. Have both a BR and a DMR load out. /close thread
I think it might appear as OP because you don’t descope when shot, too much aim assist at long range( if u miss check ur controller) and the fact that it has a better scope (3x) than the BRs. I’m a BR user an as soon as I made the switch to DMR I’m seeing more kills consistently no matter what range
DMR is more effective than all other starting weapons in their respective areas, even the ARs in close range and the BR in mid-range.
The DMR is too effective long range especially when there is no reason not to sit back, camp, and spam endlessly with no risk to yourself.
It takes literally no skill to use due to it being pin point accurate while spamming even from across the map.
If the DMR doesn’t get fixed, it’ll be Reach all over again with 3/4 of the population jumping before Q1 2013, ESPECIALLY since Black Ops 2 is tonight.
I agree.
They need to either increase bloom on it, increase BR to 4 shots instead of 5, or increase fire delay on the DMR.
Its way too accurate and very overpowered for a start-up weapon.
In Halo Reach: “DMR sucks. decrease the bloom!”
In Halo 4: “DMR is too good. Increase the bloom!”
You people are never happy are you?
BR is origional poster? Oh, I see. Yeah the DMR is far superior, but couldn’t they have buffed the BR so I wouldn’t get massacred while using my favorite midrange weapon?

In what way is this providing constructive criticism to tHe thread? Everyone here is posting valid reasons for why the DMR is OP.
And it is obvious that 343 wanted the game to have variety of utility weapons that stand out in their combat range hence the 4 weapons to Reach’s 1. Right now if you choose anything else other than the DMR you are handicapping yourself no matter what map or range.

Again, you forget the key things of Halo, and on top of that you make the silly assumption that every player is 100% accurate and lands every shot, which is not true, if it truly is as OP as you say then surely no one can win against it right?
Wrong, i myself have won many battles against DMR users by ueing other weapons, many BR users have actually, for something to be OP, it has to do as you said, but it has to do that consistently, in every situation regardless of player skill, and that isn’t the case, if it was then we would agree that its OP, but that not the case.

Again, that’s probably gonna happen anyway if they nerf it or not, that happens every time a cod game comes out.
> How come nobody had a problem with it in Reach…
Oh, BTB players did. Couldn’t walk across the map without getting pelted by constant DMR fire.

Whoa there buddy. No need to get so angry. If you want my take on the DMR I’ll tell you.
It’s not overpowered in the slightest and is perfect the way it is. Why? Well while it does take one less shot than the BR to kill a person, it also is more difficult to use. It was stated that the BR was made for close to mid range, and the DMR was made for mid to long range which I’ve found to be true. As for the Carbine and Light Rifle I think they’re fine where they’re at too. I’ve used all four weapons extensively and I can’t pick one to be more powerful than the other, just for suitable for certain situations.
This is just my opinion, don’t take it too seriously and come at me with any bad boy internet rage now.
lolol it’s fine
