The DMR In Halo 4?

Am I the only one a bit angry about this?

Me, honestly, am a big fan of the Halo story/canon, so why is the DMR in Halo 4?
We haven’t seen it in Halo CE, 2, or 3, but now it’s in Halo 4? That doesn’t make any sense.

Ok, so maybe I’m overreacting, but there better be a good explanation as to why it’s there. I mean come on. It was a prototype weapon from Planet Reach. Reach was glassed.

Hopefully the DMR is only in multiplayer.

Thoughts?

The fact that Reach was glassed shouldn’t effect whether 343 can include the weapon in the game. Another thing, most people who don’t like the DMR would rather see it in the campaign and not multiplayer because they think it will ruin the game. Either way, it’s in the game so people will have to deal with it. Say perhaps, don’t pick it up.

The bubble shield was only in Halo 3 and people are now crying about how it isn’t in Halo 4… so now they hate 343i because of a little bubble shield…

The DMR was ok, take off the bloom… it’s a good gun.

Reach was glassed, but that doesn’t mean every DMR in existence was destroyed. It was just more used by the UNSC Army, Chief works with the UNSC Marines.

As for multiplayer, the DMR could, and most likely will be, radically overhauled from the Reach version. I’m assuming it will be in a niche in between the BR and sniper, and not be very good at close range.

The DMR wasn’t a prototype, and shouldn’t be wiped out of existence just because Reach got glassed. It was the Army’s standard-issue rifle, which MC never used because he always worked with the Marines. I’m assuming its inclusion in Halo 4 implies that we’ll be encountering Army, maybe even S-III’s and S-IV’s

There are plenty of ways to add weapons to the game, I for one really enjoy the DMR, and that will most likely be the only weapon I will swap my BR with.

I sort of agree with you. I hope they put the DMR in Multiplayer only because it will make the multiplayer a lot more interesting and i like the DMR better anyways. Halo Reach is my second Halo gaame

They prob did that to give players more options in there choice of weapon of range, i know when i started reach it was tough to switch to single instaed of burst fire, now 343 is just giving those who want both a chance.

Could just be a newer version of the DMR that fits the range between the Sniper and the BR.

We have an entirely new BR (the BR85), I imagine it will be the same for the DMR too. This helps justify its existence, in that its a new model.

If your really going to be bothered by the DMR for Canon reasons, then please do so for the bubble shield not returning. I quite frankly could careless for Canon reason, but for its function I may.

I think your overreacting.

In a canonical sense the Dmr was weapon used by the UNSC Army, and reach was a concept weapons and technology. And if reach’s AA’s some how evolved into halo 3’s equipment. then a weapon like DMR which is supposed to be a standard issue weapon in the UNSC Army it could very well be seen in halo with out breaking canon. The UNSC have the Army Navy and Marines just like are Modern military. And just like are modern Military, each branch uses specific standard issue weapons and specific special weapons as well. and would be almost illogical not to have certain weapons

OH MY GOD.

Sad.

It’s been 5 years if not a little longer since the fall of reach, Im sure they could have manufactured more DMR’s by now.

I agree with the thought of throwing in a lot of weapons into the sandbox for the hell of it. It gives variety for custom creations and it doesn’t have to be in the matchmaking multiplayer. I think we need more “sentinel beam” weapons if you catch my drift. Weapons that are in the sandbox, seen in campaign, but sort of kept out of matchmaking.

Also 343 please, please put the SMG back in there. I love that weapon, I don’t care if it’s matchmaking or not; it’d be awesome to have it back someway, thanks.

I loved the DMR in reach and wouldn’t mind it being either in campaign nor multiplayer. What I loved about it was that you had to time your shots without the bloom going to hot. and plus you can get up 2 3 kills without reloading… BR on the other hand… Everytime i play halo 2-3 I start to dislike br more and more. Carbines are great though. I just hope they return the jackal snipers.

It hasn’t been years since the fall of Reach. Unless Halo 4 starts several years later, Reach was the last planet to fall before Earth in the year 2552. The story of the Halo trilogy takes place over like six months, no longer.

Perhaps you mean Harvest, which was the first planet to Fall, several years before Earth.

I actually liked the bloom on the weapons on Reach. I think it would be cool if the DMR rate of fire could be changed from single fire to a burst of three in game, like the battle rifle, though I guess that would make the battle rifle kinda defunct. Just a thought.

Why do people always read so far into the appearance of weapons in Halo games?
