I love my automatics. But jesus christ quit moaning. Automatics have and always will be inferior to the BR. I say you are being toxic yourself not allowing players to choose what weapons to take into battle. You want an SMG? Use it but never criticise somone elses playstyle. It’s like a vegetarian demanding a meat eater not to eat meat because there are too many steaks on the table compared to your flimsy salad. Get a grip.

I’d hope that no rational proponent of BR starts immediately bashes on SMG/AR opponents on the basis of skill. Purely speaking in terms of gameplay, non-BR starts have usually suppressed varied matches. That is, once a team acquires control with BRs or DMRs, the other team has no incentive to move much and they start looking for cover. Eventually the match just becomes a shootout, which in my opinion is quite boring.
Give everyone a BR, though, and the problem is fixed. Because both teams start with a weapon with good defense and good offense (in contrast with the SMG/AR, which are almost exclusively offensive), no one side can be pushed into a corner. Everyone is encouraged to move around, leading to more evenly distributed power weapon.
But if you want an AR and a good utility weapon, play CE.

Not necessarily, I think it’s more so a preference of the kind of game they like to play. BR start is much different from standard slayer and makes much of the sandbox and cqc obsolete.

What world are you from? Team slayer on H2 was SMG starts until they brought in team hardcore after the competitive scene became very popular. I prefer the BR honestly, but learn what “Classic” truly means.

I agree with you OP. Especially with their attitudes. However what I do is outsmart them. Sure the BR is devastating at range, but let one slip up by risking running through a tunnel. Just imagine their face when they see me pop out of a corner with my shotgun.

As if people like yourself are even still on this subject, just honestly how do expect other players to take this thread seriously. As a player who actually cares about fair play and even starts I would say straight up it doesn’t matter a bit if you think SMG starts are the best, in fact it’s not relevant anyway. Competitive play with BR’s is why as I would already guess others have outlined to you and the other percentage of social players that feel BR’s are unfair is halo is at it’s best when all players have a fair advantage and not just two or three. SMG starts DO NOT provide any sort of fun to the competitive community!
To keep this short, go play custom games and quit complaining.
