First off, thanks to the 343/CA team for all the effort and love you guys are putting into this game.
This is not a rant, but rather just an observation about a topic the dev team might have forgotten about (to be addressed hopefully in the next patch). My hope is that we can all agree and support this observation.
HERO UNITS
Why are they ignored? I understand they do not represent a big issue in the game right now, they’re not broken or unbalanced. But they are certainly underwhelming. I mean, you see condors and scarabs more often than hero units…
Atriox Chosen - Top tier.
Kinsano - Cheese tier.
Forge Warthog - Decent filler tier.
Everyone else - Crappy filler tier.
These are the tiers in my opinion, anything other than #1 isn’t worth building at all unless at very late stages of the game.
Can we have any official word about the hero units? Sadly they weren’t mentioned in the Q&A and I think they’re wonderful units with potential to spice up gameplay.

Yeah but on maps that have garrisons close to bases they are all overpowered granted that is only a few maps
I agree 100%. Besides Chosen none of the heros are worth their cost, and upgrading them costs even more. Spartans are only semi-viable in Blitz because they can hijack stuff, but that’s it.
Wat I find Forge’s warthog to be incredibly good. Not Atriox tier but good.
The Spartan’s on the other hand are weaker then hell. Alice only gets a chain gun which annoys me cause Isa is my favorite leader. Jerome gets a spartan laser and I dunno what the other one gets. However, they are not really worth the resources they cost and are not as good as the actual hero units.
It’d be cool if they all had their own identities like this one good vs vehicles, that one is good vs infantry, this one is good vs air or something like that.
Heroes seem fine to me. They can definitely shift the battle in your favor if you use them tactically. A spartan slam can tip the scales against a blob of infantry, allowing your units a good 1-2 seconds of one sided damage. And hijack is incredibly powerful if used right; try hijacking a 2-3* tank and focus your healers on keeping it alive.
Honor Guard turns invisible, runs as fast as a JR, does great damage vs ground vehicles and can survive most encounters due to SM’s teleporting powers. Getting a 3* Honor Guard is easy and the results are powerful if used tactically.
Warlord is harder to use but mainly because he’s the Hero to a weak leader. Being able to drag multiple units into your own army is a godly ability, it just so happens that Decimus’ army is a bit poop.
Heroes are units that need to be nurtured throughout the game. You can’t just plop them down and expect them to wipe out the enemy, but if you take the extra effort to get your Heroes promoted they are extremely powerful.

I’m pretty sure they do. Alice has a chain gun, so she wrecks infantry. Jerome gets a laser for vehicles. The other gets a rocket launcher for air.
It makes sense for Isabel because for the most part she needs to build tanks/vehicles and cyclops/hunters melt them. Since Alice has a chain gun she’s intended to help mow some of the down.

Rocket launchers also wrecks infantry has crazy amounts of aoe dmg
I haven’t been bothered too much by the heros. But, maybe, it’s because I don’t see them too often. When I do, I’m not annoyed or stressed about it.
I’m not wild about having one unit that can take on an army. But, they could be fun if balanced well.
I remember players always rushing the Prophet in HW1 and getting super annoyed (you could get him to an enemy base in no time). I’m glad that’s less of an issue now.
It’d be interesting if they were all made to be more support characters, like Forge. Maybe some can make their units invis, maybe a war chant to increase damage, maybe a healer?

I understand that’s their playstyle. However they’re not effective at all, even when you micro them to their strengths.
The amount of effort isn’t justifiable by the little reward you get in return (and I’m not even talking about the enormous resource and time cost to get them out).
That is my only concern with the leaders (other than decimus, but they’re fixing him in the next patch hopefully). Why should marines squads have more range than a Spartan? It’s so much of a letdown to have decent armor only to become a sponge in a garrison.
Atrioxs chosen is fine. But why not give red team more of a role on the battlefield
