With the MCC’s inclusion of interactive maps, do you thing that future Halo maps are heading into a direction of destructible environments. I’m not talking about Battlefield type destructible. However, it could be that some parts of the maps are temporary. The best comparison I can think of is Left 4 Dead, where some walls in the map could be destroyed by zombies causing the overall player movement flow to change.
In summary, is Halo going towards the direction of destructible elements.
What do you guys think?
It’s a little bit of a leap to assume destructible environments are next, but it’s not out of the question. I for one love the new elements, and hope that in H5G we get more than one per map.
Some destructability is not outside of the range of Halo. And it would be nice to see some more taken into consideration. A gread example is the cover near the turrets on Zanzibar, or the center glass on Lockdown in H2A, in both these cases destructability was there, you could whiddle away the cover players had near Zanzibar’s turrets, which was awesome for giving players up there less cover. The Glass on Lockdown takes about 4 sticks to destroy, and changes up map flow while it’s missing, but will come back after a period of time.
I could see players using the “breakable glass” forge object from Lockdown integrated into certain walls, and set to ‘never respawn’, in order to allow a permanent map change brought on by the wall being broken.
A few other exaples of destructable parts are the Stalactites on Waterworks/Lockdown, the windows on Zanzibar/Last Resort (which actually adds cover instead of removing), wood pallettes from Halo 3 and beyond’s Forge, and Dominion Shields and objects in Halo 4.
