The direction Halo is taking

And by that I mean the direction the Halo STORY is taking. So what do you all think of the campaign and its story?

I personally love all of the story and everything 343 has done with it with only two exceptions. They call The Storm Covenant and I don’t like Librarian part at all. Otherwise, the introduction of the Didact and the Composer into the game is excellent. I just wish 343 would’ve put more detail into it.

All I know is that the CortanaXChief romance in H4’s Campaign is still a better love story than Twilight.

while i played the campaign with 2 friends we just spent the whole time laughing at it.

they should have just left it finished with halo 3. i wouldnt be surpirsed if marcus fenix shows up in halo 5 along with major nelson as the bad guys

No. I do not like the direction that 343i has decided to take with the story, or at least their way of telling that story.

All of the missions felt insanely linear, on rails almost. Sort of like walking through a gun range or shooting skeet. There wasn’t much sandbox in this sandbox shooter.

Then there’s the whole bit of using external media to tell the important bits of back story. 343i continually said that the game could stand on it’s own. For anyone who cares at all about story telling, or cares about why things are happening, this couldn’t be further from the truth. Little was explained in Campaign and now we’re waiting on Spartan Ops to explain why the “covenant” (which the Elites were with us back at the end of Halo 3) are against us, if one only follows in-game story telling, and Spartan Ops relies on a Gold Xbox LIVE membership, which is just poor when a developer says that they care about all Halo communities.

The “story telling” which is quite poorly organized and just there for the sake of having a campaign, one that has nothing in way of a Halo feel (Large battles, Open areas, Options with how you tackle challenges, etc…) is awful. For Halo 5 to bring back the Halo feel, 343i will have to bring back these factors.

Halo 4’s campaign was just far too linear, lonely, and compressed on a gameplay standpoint.

Halo 4’s story was too loosely organized and lacking in detail or character development. New players to the series wouldn’t have a clue as to why Cortana is different, they’ll just think she’s insane and Chief is insane to keep her. As for veterans of Halo, they’ll be more concerned with why Chief talks so damn much and why Cortana is so clingy all of a sudden. That’s the only bit where the story stands apart, is that it doesn’t follow anything set in prior installations, which is disgusting.
