Ok there is a major difference between both and I for one will make it very clear I am a gamer. Now let’s start with gamers, If you give a gamer a controller for any console he or she will dominate, now if he or she does not know the game give them about an hour and they will own, A gamer can play any game on any console and kick butt. They are not picky about a game. For instance I play a lot of halo but I also play brink, Assassins creed, rpgs, rts, third person shooters, and strategy. That is a gamer. Now let’s go to a fanboi. Fanbois stick to one console and one game like Halo, they complain about every other game. Now since fanbois stick to one main game they most of the time suck at the majority of the other games. Now before you start flaming about this. Think about it, who play halo non stop 24/7 and then get on another game and completely fail at it? Gamers adapt to their games fanbois do not because they are used to one game. All the people calling them selves hardcore gamers because they play halo alot is a fanboi, also fanbois buy the merchandise that they really do not need such as limited edition crap, and toys and collectibles. Gamers in my sense are better because they adapt to any game anytime, plus they are alot more fun to play games with because they do not complain about a game. They just play it. I have played COD, MWF, Halo, RAGE, Brink and I believe they are all great games. Flame on people because I know people do not like being classified even when they classify everyone else. good day
Yes, we get it, fanboys can be annoying, but I consider myself both a “fanboy” of Halo and a gamer- I don’t just play Halo. But it’s what I play the most by far. And yes, I get the Legendary Edition, and read the novels and all other media.

I do know what I am talking about because I have done this before most “hardcore” halo players completely suck at other games. I battled someone from Halo once on super smash brothers when he said " he was the best at that game" and I owned him in one round. Most fanbois do not play any other game apart form there “main” game. If you are a gamer you would play COD, MWF, BF series, and all of the other ones.
not all the players are like that but the majority of them actually are.

just because I do not put the effort into halo to make my self “look” impressive doe not mean that I am not a gamer, Halo has lost touch with what it truly was because of people like you who are stating in order to be a gamer you have to be good at halo, I play halo just for fun, I do not need to impress you or anyone. I could give a -Yoink- less about halo, If you looked at how many games I have played on my console alone you would be very surprised at the variety of games I have, that says one thing, I do not put effort into something that others have and claimed they were the best not worth my time or effort. so what you are saying is just because I do not play arena I am not a gamer? I am still good at halo reach but just because I do not put my full attention into it I am not a gamer? Dude you need to -Yoink- because you have no Idea what you are talking about. Just because I have other games I like better than Halo reach does not mean I am not a gamer. I know what I am I enjoy every game I play, but just because I do not put 100% of my effort into a game to impress you or anyone does not mean I am not a gamer.
I agree with you 110% because I feel that most fanboys don’t want to see any types of change but gamers are more up for any types of change.
I’m both gamer and fanboy where I don’t mind change but I do love playing Halo and other games too. I believe 343i is on the right path of making Halo 4. I would like to see more information before anyone should be saying Halo 4 is going to be bad…

I am just like this guy think you my friend.
I am neither.
I play on PC and Xbox 360. Halo is my choice for several reasons but I play other games once in a while. I don’t buy all that extra stuff and I’m not waiting in lines for the newest Halo games.
But I don’t just settle in a game. I try to make something completely different out of it. Halo is my personal choice since it’s more variable. Other games that I know of are much more limited.
One thing I hate seeing on these forums is “adapt”. That tells me “don’t bother with this game. You can’t make something special out of it. Just play it like everyone else does.” And to that I like to respond “Then what’s the point of playing it?”.
Games are there to be molded by the player. If this wasn’t the case, they’re just throwaway games or things that I place in my bookshelf to collect dust.

not halo 4 the game but the fanboys I am trying to show people that the gamers who consider them selves “hardcore” are not actually that but just fanboys that wish they were bad, if some one was really hardcore, he would be competing in the MLG tournaments and making money. that is hardcore. I don’t think you realize what i’m talking about… You posted this thread in the Halo 4 section and it has nothing to do with Halo 4, that’s what i’m trying to tell you. Also I know someone who plays multiple games hardcore and goes to tournaments so what does that make him? A fanboy? Nope. A gamer? Apparently to your post, nope. This is why your post doesn’t make sense.

Pretty much this. By the way OP I have plenty of friends that are good at Halo and also other shooters, hell even other sports games. You just have no idea what you’re talking about.
