The difference between competitive and-

Players with over inflated egos.

I’m a competitive gamer, by heart I do love to try my best and do my best and when I don’t do my best I get pretty down about it. But I am also a good sport, I never get upset when I lose, in fact it is the exact opposite effect, I get so excited when an enemy team offers me a great challenge and completely kicks my -Yoink-.

I don’t mind if my kills are cleaned up by teammates, because at least I’m contributing to something.

Now a lot of people that brand themselves as a competitive player, don’t seem to hold these values anymore. Which in the end makes competitive players as a whole look bad. The core gamers are made to look like we’re the sole cause other people stray away from these kinds of games, although correlation doesn’t imply causation, someone needs to put a blame somewhere.

And because of these bad eggs the competitive gaming community on Halo is “punished” or left out because they are seen as bad.

In Halo Reach and 4 both ranks are barely there. And although some people like ranks, I think a compromise should be at hand here.

CRS is a great compromise, it pleases both crowds, and it’s somewhere down the middle, and I’m so sick of seeing other competitive gamers with over inflated egos, looking a gift horse in the mouth.

Games were made for a general audience, not just to suit a small pockets personal taste, but like it or not, gaming isn’t just some 10,000 of players now. It’s billions and billions of people joining in playing one game. Paying attention to 40% of that population versus the other 60% is just madness.

TL;DR - Most of games revenue do not make money off of it’s existing fan base, branching out is how they make more money to make more games. I’m not saying the fan base or competitive gamers aren’t important (we are) but they already have our sales, they already have us by the wallet, they need new pockets of money making opportunity.

Just my thoughts.

A better way of putting it is simply the difference between maturity & immaturity.

Also, millions of players, not billions. XD

I know I was just using bigger numbers so I don’t have people trying to split hairs.

And I must say I agree.

Some young men still behave like their 12 year old brothers, it’s really disappointing to see what the new generation has become.
