It seems that the Didact is gonna be the antagonist. Do you agree, or were you expecting the Precursors?
If anything I think it would make more sense if he was an ally.

I don’t understand why we are fighting the Forerunners. Everything I gleaned from playing all the Halo games is that the Forerunners liked us, considered us special, and left all their cool toys for us to have. 343 told us we didn’t have to read any books to understand the story of Halo 4, but I’m starting to feel like I should have.
I wouldn’t rule out the Precursors just yet. Remember in Halo Combat Evolved the Covenant was our enemy and then BAM! The Flood showed up. Just because we’re fighting Prometheans in the beginning doesn’t mean the Precursors aren’t going to play some kind of role in the story. Maybe they’re the cause of the conflict between Humans and Forerunner or something?

That’s a Cryptum Perhaps it’s the Didact’s and that was him in the gameplay demo (the sphere that came up)
The symbol shown was slightly different from the Didact symbol. Also there were blue versions of the new enemy. So maybe somehow the new faction has split in two, one on your side(blue) and the other the enemy(red). That symbol could belong to a number of possibilities whether it involves the Didact or not.
Is it possible that a Precursor is an enemy and just basically hacked Forerunner technology for his use? The Precursors were at the highest teir of technology so it’s not as if one wouldn’t be able to quickly take over what it wants. Also as stated before there were different colors for the lights on the Forerunner tech, so blue could be un-hacked, and red could be hacked/controled.
I’d say having the Didact as the antagonist makes a lot more sense than most people realise.
No one knows what happens to him after he fires the Halo rings as his location isn’t specified. If he fired the rings from the Ark, then he would have survived the blast.
I think a lot of people speculate what possible motivation he would have for being the villain. I did as well, but then remembered his relationship with The Librarian.
We know that the two were lovers and she devoted her life to saving all sentient beings in the galaxy from being consumed by the flood.
When she built the portal to the Ark on Earth and made sure all the species were safe, she asked the Didact to fire the rings. He didn’t at first because he knew she would die in the blast, so she blew up her own ships to leave herself stranded. This was the only way she could force the Didact to let her go and allow him to fire the Array.
Bearing in mind that the Librarian loved all life in the Galaxy, ESPECIALLY humans, it might not be too far a thought for the Didact to blame them for the seemingly unnecessary death of his lover.
She died for them and they released the flood again?

So what I’m saying is maybe The Didact holds a grudge against sentient life - hence why the Prometheans we see in trailer are not organic - ESPECIALLY humans.
