Halo Escalation > The Didact: Consistently the opportunity to eliminate you is presented (said to chief while holding him by his helmet). Yet foolishly I refuse.
The didacts words to me seem like there is something stopping him that even he can’t control? maybe his suboncious notices the possible Geas chief has?! And is holding the didact back.
He tore black team limb from limb. Yet chief manages to walk away every time with few scrapes.
What do you guys think the didact means with his words. If he were talking about past occasions as it is implied he should have said Yet foolishly I’ve refused. but he clearly states that he refuses! Then is quickly interrupted by blue team and the monitor.
Maybe the didact actually sees chief as a challenge and is enjoying it for once.
I really hope one of your ideas is correct, because we need a reason as to why The Didact massacres Black Team but when confronted by Blue Team he behaves like a cartoon villain and lets his minions (Prometheans) “deal” with them. Even after The Didact witnessed John by himself mow through countless amounts of them on Requiem. Not to mention the fact The Didact had John thinking his luck had finally run out while his helmet was being crushed but the Didact decides to throw him instead.

100% ^ agreed haha,
I was just like -.- what?!
“come then warrior, have your resolution” - what ever chief has done has earned the didacts respect to a point of being acknowledged as a warrior as most of the game its “human”
I understand the reason The Didact just threw John aside when he was first released from his Cryptum was because all he saw was a Human with primitive technology and one he thought was unworthy of respect, but after witnessing what kind of killing machine John is while ALONE. The Didact underestimates him while with Blue Team, and why didn’t The Didact attempt to stop John while they were talking in Installation 03’s Control Room? I don’t know if The Didact’s actions were driven by one of your great theories or stereotypical villain writing.

Yeah in the control room he must have figured that he’s come this far I’ll hear him out but XD this is the DIDACT were talking about black team he just looked at them and ripped them up. Didact must notice something in chief. Mantle worthy but to proud to admit it.

Now that I think about it. The Didact said in one of Halo 4’s terminals that his greatest enemy was Forthencho The Lord of Admirals and I’m sure he was talking about Forthencho’s strategic intelligence, but I doubt The Didact was ever truly challenged in battle. That was until John showed up and even with much less advanced technology gave The Didact and his Prometheans all they could handle. Maybe it is a Geas or profound respect or possibly both.

> They just can’t display the didact as a mindless 0815 villain
I’d like people to suggest also if not a geas (which i think it maybe) then perhaps a proud didact doesn’t want to admit he is mantle worthy like i said above.
Any other suggestions guys keep the thread alive. Really open up some theories for halo 5 G

I personally believe the Didact has to much of a thrill combating John to actually kill him. As someone else has said he never had a rival on a physical level as he has with Chief. After finally acknowledging him as a warrior at the end of halo 4 their relationship changed in my eyes.

“You impress me, human. Your singular valor will be preserved and studied, once your Composition has been completed.”
I agree the didact must get a thrill, like Goku and Vegeta always wanting that one more fight.
But indeed the Didact does treat Chief on a whole different level than he lets on towards other humans.
