People are struggling to understand the Didact is the ancient evil. Well Frank already confirmed he was, but people are still arguing about that he isn’t evil and Frank didn’t really say it like that.
Well he is, did you forget all that led up to this? The terminals in Halo 3, Halo CEA, the books, all led of to him, at least hinting at him.
A journalist already described him as to be somewhat of a creature and don’t forget the leaked mission script. And chances are it isn’t a scrapped script because one of the lines for Cortana is, “I’m not doing this for humanity!”, which you can see Jen Taylor performing that line in the studio in one of the recent vidocs. I believe it was in a Hero Awakens.
And finally, something extremely bad must have happened in Silentium because it obviously changed The Didact as (people said) from a good to bad. Also, in The Thursday War, they found many notes saying “Do not wake the Didact.”, clearly hinted as don’t wake him up because he may cause a great threat and pull people into a giant planetoid, boodoop!
You guys insert this in your heads, the Didact is clearly the evil. Maybe 343 could make a slip in with Precursors as there are still about 5 missions that we haven’t even seen a scene from. But who knows.
Also, did people forget about his symbol not only at the end of the last CEA terminal but also in the Halo 4 Campaign trailer? Guess so.
People won’t be satisfied until the game is out. It’s not worth trying to convince them.
Its a little to obvious sounding for the Didact to be the ancient evil. 343 industries is just bluffing us into thinking he is when in reality its the precursors…the real shadowy puppet masters Also the symbols may look extremely alike but they are somewhat different. For example the didacts symbol is blue and the ancient evil symbol is red which the forerunners recognized as the color of evil. Also the ancient evil symbol is shaded in fully while the Didacts is not, and the ancient evil symbol flips around at the end of the trailer…
First of all, Frankie never confirmed the Didact to be the Ancient Evil. Second, did it ever occur to you that 343i might be trying to convince us that the Didact is the Ancient Evil, without straight up telling us? Think about it, the section of the script they showed made the Didact look like the Ancient Evil, and so did everything else. But Silentium’s description states that there is an insane evil that the Forerunners had to deal with, and it was confirmed that Silentium’s description revealed more then it was supposed to.
Sure, the Didact is a bad guy in Halo 4, but the Ancient Evil? The Didact definitely has something against humans, but there’s something far worse out there. coughPrecursorscough
Also, we’ve seen clips from at least 5 missions, there are at most 3 we have yet to see clips from.
Which Didact is it though? The Bornstellar Didact or the original? And yes, as of Primordium both Didacts are alive. Read the Silantium discription if you don’t believe me.

The terminals in halo 3 never hinted at anything like that, the ones in CEA were just based on sparks opinions and thoughts.
It is possible that that mention of him as a creature was altered to not mention him because it wasn’t him, they also said that this creature didact would be a protagonist. We also don’t know the full context of that leaked mission script, between MC(it actually says MC not cortana) not caring about humanity and the didact’s senseless hate that came out nowhere; there was a lot more going on in that part than we know.
I already know why the didact would be against humanity well enough. Have you ever thought that there may be other possible reasons for the librarian wanting the didact to stay on requiem? Maybe he is there as a guard pulls ships into the planet in order to keep the location secret.
The ancient evil is likely whatever the didact is guarding. Could be precursors, they are far more likely to be the ancient evil.
@Hav0c99: If you read any of the first two Forerunner books you would clearly know that the Didact is not the ancient evil.
Well, his symbol was in the end of the E3 stage demo so yeah.
Two words, OP: red herring. That’s exactly what the Didact is.
Just because his symbol is shown when pulling the UNSC Infinity does not mean he’s the “bad guy”. Does no one pay any attention to information thrown at us? Has anyone read the books or is it the fact that so many people only play MP that they don’t pay attention to the hidden meanings behind the storyline or pay attention to certain things?
If anyone has read the Forerunner books and put two and two together, Ancient Evil =/= Forerunners/Didact/Librarian/ect.
> Well, his symbol was in the end of the E3 stage demo so yeah.
Are you sure?
I am sure you can see the differences between the didact’s symbol(blue) and this other one(red.)

The other symbol is the Didact’s “unbound” symbol. Google it.
Look, I’ve been playing Halo games since the first installment. I’ve followed the development and buzz for every single game thereafter. There is always, ALWAYS some piece of leaked/revealed information that people insist isn’t true, or is some kind of red herring, or decoy, or distraction, whatever. And every single time, it ends up being false. Hype just ruins people’s expectations. It’s as simple as that. They WANT it to be a twist on a twist on a twist. But it won’t be.
And imagine, if you weren’t on these forums every day, ultra-analyzing and deconstructing every single piece of information, just think how surprised you’d be when the Didact turned out to be a bad guy (even if he is a temporary one).
Oh well.
> People won’t be satisfied until the game is out. It’s not worth trying to convince them.
I don’t understand why this is something anyone would want to find out before the games release.
Yet another ridiculously irritating thing Frankie has revealed.
From all we’ve seen of the actual Didact, he doesn’t hate Humanity, even if he doesn’t really like them. This is why some of us don’t believe he’s the ancient evil. In fact, the description of Halo: Silentium hints that something else is the ancient evil.
Now, no one is disputing that the Didact will be a primary antagonist for Halo 4, but only for Halo 4.

You have to be really misinformed to think the librarian is evil? I mean seriously she was regarded as humanitys biggest protector during forerunner times and she showed great compassion torwards them!

I think it’s a sad fact that almost all Forerunners are screwed up in a way. Even lifeworkers have proven that their fascination with humanity is more akin to admiring a work of art or as a whole species rather than an individual. They’re simply a failed expirement of the Precursors. Maybe the Librarian is an exception but… anyway, she wouldn’t be “evil”, however one spins it.
While I don’t think the Didact is really THE ancient evil, it could turn out to be that he is acting on his own merit rather than corrupted by something. The conversation with the Primordial might have changed his mind about humanity; being told your race was a mistake and that these degraded ones are the true inheritors of the Mantle probably didn’t go down well.
The “unbound” hint could just mean that, without an Ecumene to protect or any real duties to bind him, he’s acting on his own judgement rather than serving a greater cause.

Erm, I am pretty sure he isn’t saying the Librarian is evil. He said “=/=” which means “does not equal”. Which makes the sentence “Ancient evil is not the Forerunners/Didact/Librarian/ect.”
My apologies if I’m wrong though…

What they said didn’t imply that they thought that the librarian was evil. They were just explaining how they don’t believe forerunners in general are evil through the examples of the didact and the librarian.

Yea i read that wrong my bad lol and still THE DIDACT IS NOT THE ANCIENT EVIL. Want more proof? Read the game description “Set in the aftermath of Halo 3, Master Chief returns to confront his own destiny and face an ancient evil that threatens the fate of the entire universe. Halo 4 marks the start of a new trilogy that begins with its release in 2012.” I am pretty sure the Didact even with the full power of all the Forerunners is not a threat to the universe, they simply arent advanced enough while the only thing that can be that wide of a threat to the universe are the Precursors, i mean afterall they did create the flood and are capable of intergalactic travel.

So you’re telling me that they just randomly threw in that the Precursors were going to “test” the humans coincidentally around the same time of Halo 4 for -Yoink- and giggles?! After telling us that Halo: Primordium was going to have “resonant connections” to Halo 4?! Honestly people, look at the information given and rethink your thoughts.
