When Halo 5 first released it was noticeable that there were key features missing. People wanted more game types and other things.
Comparing the beginning of Halo 5 to current date, how do you guys think Halo 5 has progressed or improved? is the online play that much better than the blank melees we experienced earlier on?
It went from the halo game with the least content to the halo game with the most content. I’d say that’s an improvement.

It’s kind of iffy. It still doesn’t give classic players any incentive to leave the MCC, so it’s still hurting for people who grew up with the series. But on the other hand the Reach Nade Launcher is fun. All in all I’d say in terms of cosmetics Halo 5 is great in terms of actualy gameplay, not so much. Bad servers, and messed up gameplay glitches are the reason I say this.
What surprised me wasn’t that people wanted more stuff - it was that everyone assumed that all the stuff they wanted should have been there instantaneously and that they were willing to throw months worth of temper tantrums over it. These are the same people, I’m sure, who paid upwards of $200 to be part of the two-year long roll out of Destiny… but try giving them 70% of a game for $60 with a promise that the other 30% will be out in a matter of just months and will not cost them an extra dime and they behave like spoiled children. A lot of it was pretty embarrassing. I still talk to people all the time who will only grudgingly admit that H5 is “finally” a good game.
By far an improvement. It would just be nice to see the other classic game modes make their way into matchmaking, such as King of The Hill, and Oddball. You can make both of these in Custom Games, but getting them into matchmaking even as social playlists would be great.
It’s improved but marginally… servers were much more stable around launch, the added content is welcomed and appreciated, but at the same time it hasn’t been anything outstanding.
Playlist offerings are better but not ideal, rankings are skewed… I mean, if my MMR reflects something different than CSR for the season and I’m frequently getting matched against high Onyx players, why is my rank still Platinum in some cases? Then I get matched with Platinums that go 3 and 14, while the other team is stacked.
Gametypes are still missing, there isn’t enough diversity in the map pool, some costly risks were taken in development that really haven’t payed off (i.e. Breakout)… I mean there’s a whole Forge canvas built around it and relatively very few players play it. From a financial perspective, that could’ve been another Arena map or two, or three, when you factor in some other excessive content. Design allocation.
There’s some definite room for improvement, going forward, which honestly is exciting… H5 is a pretty good game as it is but man there were some tangible issues with the playlists, gametypes, content development and DLC.

KotH is in action sack.

An improvement for sure, but the content should have been there from the start, it would probably have helped with its declining popularity.

It should’ve launched with more content, not with all the content it has now. Games launch small then grow big. Reach for example, launched with 10 playlists and 13-14 maps, but it grew to be one of the most content-filled halo games.

Similar I was gonna say as it basically improved but not progressed that much. Maybe with a few new modes like Warzone but overall it has been just been mostly improved.

Don’t forget forge and the customs browser.

Oh yeah lol, I can’t believe I forgot about that and we did the Carnage night with Moniters!

I’m aware of that, but I would hardly call that a true KoTH experience while you’re playing on a Lego rendition of the pit. I’d like to see it on developer maps.

It’s kinda been that with all the halos. They’ve always progressed a fair amount. I would say halo 3 probably progressed the most by introducing forge, a file share, and theater.

That’s true, for Reach the game so far had progressed or improved Firefight, made Customization awesome, probably doesn’t count but the UI also, Forge got improved by a lot mainly due to controls personally, Theater I don’t know because I haven’t played the original Halo 3.

I see this point. I do think that there could have been more content at the release of the game.

Definitely agree! As much as i love the game and it is one my favorite games ever, there are some real inconsistencies that have been a part of it. Breakout is fun but I do not think it made as big of a splash as 343 was hoping. the rank system for sure is jacked.
