The Destruction of New Phoenix

…felt a little less climatic in the Campaign. When Ur-Didact fires the Composer at the city, we just see the beam hit Earth and that’s it.

Anyone else think that it could of at least showed a data purge of parts of the city?

We only see bits-n’-pieces in the post-credit Legendary ending and some shots on Thorne’s data pad and some of Catherine’s screens after the Artifact hiccups aboard the Infinity…

It didn’t feel “less climatic” for me seeing as that has never been shown in any halo game before.

Well this was shown to us from the Chiefs perspective, so we wouldnt see anything more than what we saw.

You wouldn’t see entire blocks being purged, only the people/animals, the composer only composes organic material.

It was essentially made to digitally catalogue Forerunners, juxtaposed to the Librarian’s physical cataloging of selected species throughout the galaxy.

I’m well aware of what the data purges do. I was talking about seeing a city block and bodies being composed.

We don’t know if the composer affects the animals in the city as it has its own requirement. The composer was made by builders to save themselves from the flood (silentium) after it got into lifeworker hands they gave it a new purpose.

Could animals turn into crawlers?

I don’t think it was anti-climatic at all.

We already saw what the Composer was capable of in…well, the level Composer. I don’t think I would have needed to see it on a larger scale, just see the beam hit Earth.

> Could animals turn into crawlers?

Like i said we seriously haven’t the faintest clue

I don’t see why animals wouldn’t get composed as well… It’s designed to stop flood from infecting the bodies by digitizing them.

I think the Epilogue portrayed it nicely. They didn’t really need to show the residents being composed, since Ivanoff showed that nice and close.

The Pelicans landing in a silent city, crashed vehicles showing how busy the city once was, the Marines stepping out expecting trouble… and finding no signs of life. People wandering around getting readings from the piles of ash: composed bodies. All to the background of the Didact’s speech.

It set the tone nicely for me.

> I don’t see why animals wouldn’t get composed as well… It’s designed to stop flood from infecting the bodies by digitizing them.

Because there is a certain makeup needed to be composed hence why the didact couldn’t be composed after his mutation.

It was designed for forerunner bodies originally.

I thought the scare cord when the Composer fired was a nice touch.

Crawlers are apparently made raw materials from the ground that are instantly constructed by Watchers upon engagement.

As for the Composer’s effects on the surrounding Ecosystems in New Phoenix, as long as you’re not a human, you’re okay.

The Composer can tune to any target at will. On the attack on New Phoenix, only Human essences were extracted, the surrounding countryside is completely unharmed.

And foreruners since the didact composed his warrior servants into the first prometheans.

Maybe the Composer has a targeting thing. Something that makes it only target what is needed, though Promethean Hamsters would be awesome to fight xD

But it could have a thing where everything is used and Animals are used as extra materials if needed.

I’m sure we’ll see more of the New Phoenix incident through Thorn’s story.
