An official answer that the demo isn’t indicative of the games final appearance? Isn’t that obvious?

Well they have 4K images showing scenes from the 8 min reveal … so apparently this is what we’re getting.

They could launch the game looking like this lol. It would be nice gesture and reassuring for everybody to clarify that.
According to this forum, steam and reddit apparently it isn’t that obvious.
Edit: E3 trailer vs game releases (latest example Ghost of Tsushima) and H5 beta vs H5 release graphical fidelity.

In what world are you drawing that conclusion?
Well I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but this tweet has been removed because the information is unconfirmed. Until 343 says otherwise, we don’t know either way if the demo is old or current.
EDIT:
I came across this interview today with Ani Shastry from the 343 graphics team. Some quotes on the yesterday’s demo:
“My team and I worked closely with the content creators to get the degree of detail and polish to the highest quality”
“…it took a herculean effort to make sure this little corner of our Ringworld was polished and pretty enough for its primier”
These quotes seem to imply that these graphics are not months old, not an earlier stage of development but somewhere at or near the final product.

Yes builds for these presentations are older, but other companies have also achieved to wow me one way or another. Why are we trying to sugar-coat this?! A clear negative message only helps us getting the product we want… I seriously don’t understand the “everything is gonna be fine” attittude. We gotta fight for these things guys…
Its because most halo fans dont want their “hype” killed by realizing that this game has been (and might still be) in development trouble. If what we saw yesterday is where they are at now, this isn’t a great sign. The in game screenshots of this game so far released should be blowing us away, not becoming memes on the halo subreddit lol. I think a big problem with big game releases like this is that we expect games like Halo to be larger than life things, and when they’re not we either get outraged or run to 343’s defense in order to maintain that (again) “HYPE”. My biggest problem with the community is the inability to put their excitement aside for a new Halo game and to look at this objectively. Thats the only way the game will get better. We need to stop settling for less. I think the game should be pushed back along with the console in order to save the employees from enormous crunch and also because of the unique year that we have been through. But nope Microsoft needs to hit deadlines. A bit of a rant here, but moral of the story is: stop playing apologetics for companies like Microsoft when its obvious they are rushing this game for holiday release.

That’s a good point! Hopefully and hence the hopefully, this a Sonic the Hedgehog movie situation and just a publicity stunt. I already mentioned Bungie earlier in this forum but I’ll refer to them again for a different matter. They pushed the original Xbox to it’s limit cinematic AND gameplay wise. What was shown yesterday was the complete opposite. Why have the most powerful console at your disposal for development and then not try and push it to it’s limit? When they showed last year’s teaser I, and I’m sure others, thought awesome Infinite’s graphics will be like CE and H2A anniversary but pushed to the next level.
Yeah I found the game very underwhelming nothing really exciting that happened.

I’d say that’s what the community need the most. Even if we don’t like the answer they give us, I think it would make the whole fanbase calm down.
Even though that tweet was taken down, I think it’s probably was an earlier build. Most demo builds are months old by the time they are shown.
if you watch the gameplay trailer, the one with the Energy sword, you can see that the weapons have more detail. That trailer must have been recorded on a more recent build, which is a good sign. Still not perfect but improved.
The graphics aren’t the only issue. The game has random abilities that aren’t halo again. They took the worst abilities from halo 5 and ideas from other games to make halo infinite. More needs to change than just the graphics if they want this game to succeed. There is no way this game will retain a large population past the first year let alone 10 years with how the game currently is.
Trailers like this are purposely made to look good. If the trailer didn’t look good, the game will look worse.

It was being played on a PC

I’d totally be fine with the game being delayed 2 years… I’m still loving Halo 3 after 13 years, so I rather get a polished game, than a rushed new Halo… so I absolutely agree… let 343 have enough time… can be 3 more years for all I care.

Seems I might have been wrong
> What state is the version of the game we saw today? Will the visuals improve?
> Lee: Halo Infinite is still very much in development. The team is very focussed on bringing the best experience possible to fans and we still have a ways to go. So this is definitely a pre-release version of the game that folks are seeing today.
This quote is from this interview with Chris Lee, 343’s Creative Director. This doesn’t necessarily mean the demo graphics weren’t meant to be the final picture, but whether that is the case or not, I think we can at least rest assured that the graphics will be better at the final release.

> Pandemic is no excuse. We ALL have had to deal with the pandemic. Take necessary precautions, wear a mask, and build the game. I do not feel like the pandemic is solely responsible for underwhelming graphics, or a “several month old” demo…they knew exactly what they showed off today, and that makes me believe this is what they really have to offer, which is underwhelming and sad. This was meant to sell the “most powerful console ever”, and they likely tried to show their best. But…is that all you can conjure? Eww.
Lol wut… its a demo and likely an old one. Stand down spartan.

Your point is only true if you haven’t accepted that games don’t come out 100% complete these days. Well some do, but its becoming a rarity. At what point should a game be judged? Because if we go solely by “day one of release” than most games that have come out in the last 5 years have sucked. Halo Infinite will be updated and added to for years after release. Is it really “playing apologetics”? Because I see it more as being realistic instead of a hate-monger

A game should be judged upon release, because that is when you pay for the game. If companies are charging full price for a game lacking in features, then they are shortchanging you. They can promise updates and free dlc to eventually make the game “complete”, but wouldn’t you rather have that full package at launch knowing that your money is well spent? Otherwise you are somewhat blindly putting your money and trust in a publisher who may or may not fulfill those promises down the line. I absolutely agree that the last 5 years of games have sucked because of half-baked releases, but does that make it right? If everyone is doing a bad thing does that make the bad thing more ok? I don’t think it does. I think the “release now, patch later” mentality for games is becoming so normalized that people are taking comfort in knowing that the game will be supported down the line after launch. If 343 wants to do that and stick to their holiday launch date, then I’m ok with that… BUT be upfront about it and don’t charge us full price for a game that isn’t complete. So yes, in a lot of ways people are making excuses for 343 when they don’t have to.

4 months before launch though? DOOM Eternal matched it’s release graphics, or got pretty close to it, two years before launch.
