The Defining Moment for 343

I truly believe that this will be 343’s test. How they come back from this. There are SO many issues/bugs with this, that its hard to believe that there was ANY internal testing at all. This is their test. How quickly/accurately they fix the issues with this game, and not just leave it and ignore it like Halo CEA. I believe that if the major issues with the game are fixed within a reasonable timeframe, I and many others will have been proven by 343 that they truly do care about this franchise and its fans. and just as a starting point some of the issues that need to be resolved.

  • Co-op Input Lag - There is apparently the same input lag that plagued Halo CEA for the 360 (which is about a 1-2 second delay for people who are not host), but now in ALL of the Co-op campaigns, This is not a connection issue, its an issue with the game. it was ignored in the 360 version and CANNOT be ignored here, especially since it affects all the games this time.- Multiplayer - This one is obvious due to what is happening right now. but get the MP up and running, and properly. No wonky team comps (ie, 5v3 or 7v3), no splitting groups of friends up on different teams. accurate descriptions of player in the playlist selection, an ability to actually see who is the person talking, People being able to boot others in matchmaking, The exploit to level up, ect. This is just a few of the issue that are occurring at the moment in MP.- Achievements - Another obviously known issue. Nothing is more irritating that playing through the campaign and then realizing that half of the achievements aren’t unlocking. And god forbid this happening to anyone attempting the LASO achievements. and on that note- Playlists skipping levels - You know that LASO achievement i just mentioned? Imagine getting half way through the LASO playlist then it skips a level. You now have NO way of going back to redo that mission in the playlist, and just lost the achievement because the playlist bugged out and skipped the level. THAT is a level of rage i would hate to experience.- Levels not loading properly - not too long ago i saw video of people in halo 4 having the level not even load and a mammoth tank just driving into the air where the level should have loaded. being unable to continue because of this bug.- Crashing/freezing - This is another given, but there appears to be crashing at almost any given interval, be it just playing campaign, trying to play MP or even just pulling up the SNAP menu.Just a FEW of the issues that will need to be fixed in the next short while here. I have faith that 343 can pull this off, but it will take a LOT of hard work. Frankly, if this is not done, I think my interest in the halo franchise will be lost, considering THIS was my dream game, this game promised me EVERYTHING I have wanted in a game on the xbox. THIS was the game that I NEVER in my wildest dreams would have imagined would be made and yet it was put together, and at almost every turn it has been fumbled.

Please 343, Do this game the justice it deserves. Repair it. You have MANY loyal fans here.

The defining moment was when they shipped this lump of poo without testing it.

I agree, if they can come back from this soon like within the month and fix literally everything then it will be amazing. if not, then Halo 5 pre-orders will take a big loss.

Their defining moment passed. This is what they are.

Yeah, this launch has done it for me…I’ll never go to another midnight launch again.

Remember the days when games worked when you bought them? Like cough cough Halo2 cough

Never buy from 343 again, they are a bunch of incompetent idiots who shipped a broken game with 50% missing. This is just sad.

Well said, sir.

I for one will NOT be buying Halo 5 on release. I may purchase it later, depending on how I like the beta, but I’m not gonna go through this crap again with Halo 5.

I’m pretty sure 343’s test was H4 which they failed. This was supposed to get them out of the dog house and so far…not so good…

What problems were there with Halo 4? I bought that day one and never had an issue. I could make it into matchmaking within a descent time period and was able to party up with friends and stay on the same team.

I for one am very impressed when the game actually works. It really is all of my favorite games all in one package. Just because this game is having a rough launch doesn’t make me want to abandon the chief all together. Yeah it sucks that matchmaking is broken and co-op campaign is really laggy for non-host players, but I do have faith that 343 can pull this off. I might be in the minority in saying this but halo 4 worked great IMHO. I have all faith that they will do the same for MCC.

This is something I will not abandon either. it’s an ambitious game with a less than ambitious community at the moment. it will inevitably be fixed and all of the hitching and moaning will have been for not. Don’t worry my friends, the master chief will not be written off and this will be fixed and playable as we expected at launch.

Dont defend the MCC, it was made by a studio with over a decade of experience under their belt and more bodies in their offices than ever. There is NO REASON four games they’ve MADE BEFORE shouldn’t work, even with the added features and anniversary. I will NEVER buy a Halo game on release again, this was one sting too many.

I don’t mean bugs, I mean it was a flop of a game. It had no staying power because a majority of people play halo for the matchmaking competitiveness. Check out the matchmaking numbers and you’ll see they had a significant drop off after a month or two. That is why they’re actually doing a beta for H5 because they don’t want to f it up this time around.

I’m not defending the launch at all. This is by far one of the largest disappointments i have ever experienced. I as well was hosting a LAN party on release night and was very displeased with not being able to play after 15 hours straight of troubleshooting, rejoining matches, hard resetting my xbox, signing in and out of xbox live like its gone out of fashion. 343 definitely understands our frustrations and can only fully fix and troubleshoot the rampant issues of the game one day at a time. Sure we can sit here and complain that it doesn’t work, but like others have posted before me, it really doesn’t help the situation at all. Sometimes it takes launches like this to re-evaluate the production process and overall scale of time it takes to release a working game. I would say that after this experience, 343 now knows the limelight is on them, so future releases will be thought out and project deadlines will be more in line with taking the time to finish a product before it is released to the public. Some good will come out of this experience, and sadly most of us in general do not learn until we do something wrong. As a Halo enthusiast, yes I’m very disappointed with what has happened, but look forward to this experience teaching game devs and their publishers a lesson that needs to be learned.

Seriously, what’s with all the negativity? This is a one time thing, and because it’s such a BIG game. Halo 4 had VERY few bugs/glitches, therefore, 343I is capable of releasing a decently-working game.

This is a huge game, five in total, with extra content. Of course it’s broken, it’s got FIVE games worth of bugs/glitches right now. Most SINGLE games have a TON of glitches upon release. They’ll be fixed.

I mean, come on! Why GIVE UP ON A COMPANY BECAUSE YOU’RE TOO IMPATIENT AND UNGRATEFUL TO WAIT FOR A FIX?!

And if they don’t fix it, we’ve still got 80% of our money’s worth. I’m willing to deal with these bugs.

Halo 2 had issues at launch and there were a ton of fixes and re-balancing issues that were fixed over time. Does everyone not remember blue-screen and all those hacking dooshes? Now, we could definitely play Halo 2, but it took a while to become the perfect game we all know it to be now.
