I cant for the life of me imagine why they would take the player count from 8 to 6 in free for all!
We all know on average 1-2 players quit in almost every match so by the end of these games im spending 75% of my time running around trying to find the other 3 players that are still in the game… VERY UPSETTING!!!
I hope this is addressed because this decision has completely changed the dynamic of my favorite Halo Matchmaking… and speaking of changing the dynamic why was the ability to vote for maps removed?
What a terrible decision that is… Its not uncommon for me to play the same map 2-3 times in a row before we are given a new map option… why would they make these changes?
It has been their best decision ever. Luck of the spawn shouldn’t factor into a ranked game. With the player count lower there isn’t constant players spawning on top of other players or other players right around the corner getting easy mop up kills or easy spawn kills. FFA plays so awesome now and is way more competitive and actual skill based play.
8 player FFA was a spawn kill mayhem fest. There was an abundant amount of feedback that supports the 6 player FFA. It’s not the developers fault that people are quiting the game. The quit bans are being implemented and hopefully will deter this kind of behavior.
As for the voting, what needs to be implemented is a veto system, not a voting system. Voting system causes people to quit because their map or gametype was not voted for or the same map is voted in every game. Sure the map rotation system is flawed currently, but hopefully it will be corrected.
8 people was a little chaotic. bringing it down to 6 makes it more strategic and slows it down a bit. the majority of the community agrees with this and I think 343 made the right decision here.

Those 1-2 people quit from frustrated spawn bs that other people are talking about in this thread.
Map voting was removed because people never got to play on less popular maps. So we no longer had 20 maps - but really only had 8 or so. I’d wager if I counted up my games played per map in halo 4 - 35-40% would be haven (the only reason it dropped this low was because I just played dlc playlists and ctf - no haven - at one point it was like 60% 2 months after the game launched - that’s repetitive and boring). Haven was an okay map at best because of it’s simple design.
I am some what glad they removed map voting. I feel I get more map variety now. Sure I get repeated maps here and there but not near as often when there was voting. When there was voting most of the time one particular map would always win instantly.

because ppl where complaining about there being to many ppl in FFA so they cut it bye 2. we knew this was happening, you should
have spoke up.
maybe because people have been begging for 6 player FFA since launch and have brought up many valid reasons why, from bad spawns because of to many players to the maps being to small to promote a healthy flow of combat

OK I get that but its rare that all 6 players stay in the game so it typically ends up being 4 player FFA
Well you see the community thinks it knows whats best for the game, so a handful of people complained until the devs took notice and cut it down to six players instead of eight.

Can’t say I’ve ever experienced a a 4 player FFA back when it was still an 8 player match. Sometimes one or two players would quit, but never 4.
