As a frequent member of the Halo community who comes onto waypoint, i think we can all agree that the community is divided in regards to halo 5. Those who are apposed to the drastic changes of what Guardians presented to the gameplay, story line and lack of playlists to name some. ( Sorry for the generalization but these seem to be the consistent points of their argument. ) And those who defend the game praising 343’s changes to the game that have made it able to survive and citing previous changes made to the franchise in previous installments ( With transition to Halo 3 to Reach possibly being the most drastic. Again sorry for the generalization but that is most of my knowledge on there side. )
Both view make valid points and despite the amount of people who accuse each side of “Not being constructive” when representing said views, for the most part I’ve seen plenty who’ve been more than able to do otherwise.
However as mentioned above when confronted to different opinion then their own and other like minded people on this site, any chance to have a proper discussion on topic is met with Strawmen and generalizations, though some that simply watch this have come to expect that from this community.
So my intention here is the make this post to provide a platform for both sides of the debate on Halo 5 to discuss their view, give their reasoning and to not be misrepresented. to some this may sound silly but i still hold some hope that there can at least be an understanding in this community because ultimately ( regardless of anyone’s personal view on 343 ) we are the voice of this franchise that we have all come to love known as Halo.
Hopefully they’ll be members of the community who’ll wanting to share their thoughts and want to actually start a discussion and a debate on this in a civil manner.
HCE caused the first divisions. All other community separations are just subgroups from that.
I feel like 343 made moves in the right direction in some places, and not the right directions in other places.
Still I’d wish to see some sort of discussion in regards to Halo 5 since that is relevant to today within the community.
lol good luck with that OP
Would you be able to go into more detail Cap, I’m interested of understand each individual view.
I honestly think the Halo Civil War between Bungie Purists and 343 Patriots is idiotic
I believe there is a point to this as it will hopefully make a discussion on the matter. I don’t believe it’s unreasonable for people to dislike what you’ve mentioned above as long as they are civil on the matter, also you’ve provided another example of people generalization in this case people who were apposed to the changes of Reach and 4 as "Haters" which is silly honestly.
They are working on our issues. They read. They hear us. They are working and not responding. Just wait for the March and April Updates. That’s all I dare say.

Captain America: Civil War
I neither defend or attack 343i. They performed well with the gun play and after playing through the campaign again on legendary (see: HALO 5 CAMPAIGN…AGAIN} i enjoyed it more than the first. In addition, the audio was a big improvement. I thought Halo 4 had crappy sound effects. Halo 5’s multiplayer was good, but it is lacking traditional halo game types such as Infection and Griffball. However, i was really bothered by some of the dialogue during the campaign. It felt fake and unnecessary. While forge is fun and great with all of the new content, I find the controls to be very confusing. I also hated the fact that you only play as master chief 3 times even though the series is based around him. All in all, I thought Halo 5 was a fairly solid game. I am a Halo fan, so I’m gonna buy it because its got that title.

Halo 5 is clearly very divisive but my view is that the campaign was very poor and bland and the multiplayer made huge innovations not all of them were good but it did give us a fresh new experience and we can’t be angry at that . So my overall view is mildly good multiplayer very poor campaign.
All of the above is my opinion and I don’t hate the game it’s just not my favourite.
