The Death of the Chief

Guys. I think it’s time we start thinking about something none of us want to even consider…The death of the Master Chief. The man has done nothing but fight his whole life, since he was 6. He never had a chance to develop normal human emotions, and like ONI tried to make him out to be, he is functionally… Broken. The chief can’t function without Cortana. You’ve seen that in the cutscenes. John becomes unresponsive and aggressive when people mention Cortana and flat out disobeys orders when told to come home. When John and blue team were told to head home, they weren’t renegades, they were on missions from the UNSC. For them to randomly go looking for Cortana was a red flag. Cortana already died in his mind and now she has to die again? How much can one man take before he shatters? Chief is going to go out like he came it. With a bang. How he’ll die, none of us can say. Should it happen? Sad to say, but yes. I’d rather Chief die now that face a lifetime in a wheelchair (like some of his fellow Spartans).

On topic: Definitely an interesting possibility. Who knows where they’ll take the story.

Chief isn’t Halo.

At the end there was another Halo. I believe Locke and the other spartans were added to embrace a larger and more diversified story game wise. Now H5 story was pitifully short, I hope H6 fixes this. They were trying to appeal to more people, but I believe they cant ever remove chief in the near future because he’s to iconic to the lore.

How did the halo series start? With chief. when will halo end? as far as im concerned it ends with chief, and honestly, chief should have just died with cortana and the didact in 4. Because seriously, killing cortana and bringing her back for chief to ultimately fight is absurd and downright treasonous. In my eyes, Halo has died already.

i did… but i don’t think chief will be killed off till the end of the series.

I think he should go out like this: Blue Team is in the core room of the flagship (Would most likely be a captured Covenant Supercarrier) of an enormous Flood Fleet preparing to invade the galaxy-- fighting to the core would be the final mission. They decide to blow it, destroying the fleet and sparing the galaxy of the parasite. After they destroy the core, they run out of the room, only to be faced by hundreds of flood combat forms. Blue Team prepares their weapons, then the screen cuts to black

The ending is not shown, all that is seen is a huge explosion wiping out most (if not all) of the fleet. A legendary cutscene could be someone interrogating Doctor Halsey (Preferably the same person in the prologue of H4, with their name revealed. Also, with her major role in the plots of H5 and 6, its is a “friendlier” interrogation)

Interrogator- “The Master Chief, and Blue Team, were all killed in action. You cannot deny that.”
**Halsey- “**Until you give me their bodies, I will not believe you”
Interrogator- “Our last video feed from Blue Team was overwhelming odds against hundreds of Flood. Are you trying to say that 4 Spartans can overcome a Flood army? Something even the Forerunners failed to accomplish?”
Halsey- “I’m sure they could find a way to evad-”
Interrogator- “But even if they did manage to get away the Flood, are you suggesting that they somehow found transport that was capable of getting them out of the blast radius in time?”
Halsey- “It’s not entirely unlikely that they found a ship to escape in.”
Interrogator- “Doctor Halsey, you must understand that there is a very slim chance that they could overcome a Flood Army in before the core overloaded, much less find transport to get them out of the blast radius. To think that is crazy.”
Halsey- “It wouldn’t be the first time they defied death.”
Interrogator- “Are you really trying to suggest what you said when I first interrogated you? Short Pause That Spartans never die?”
Halsey- “You could say that. Besides, remember last time you doubted John? He came back, only to save us once again”
Interrogator- “What are you trying to say?”
Halsey- “That Blue Team does not need to be underestimated. But mostly, do not underestimate Pause Him.”

It just leaves the player to imagine what happens next- Whether Chief and Blue Team died, or if they made it out. Chief’s story could’ve ended at 3 if they really wanted it to. Not giving enough information to make a credible conclusion.

Next Halo game: we fight the Flood incarnations of Bule Team. DUN DUN DUNNN.

I liked the flood way better than the promethean, they had motivation, they were scary, they were the perfect enemy. The prometheans are kind of boring IMO, especially in Halo 5. They don’t feel very threatening. The guardians are a threat, sure, but “One single spore can wipe out an entire species” (Or whatever Rtas said). That being said, I would like the series to end with chief. Unfortunately, we know that even if they kill him, Halo will continue, until it no longer makes money, as it is Microsoft’s cash cow.

Fighting the flood is bad enough. Fighting flood infested Blue Team?

Nope. Nope. Nope.

That would be epic. maybe hen Chief could finally pull lockes head off of his over powered armour. mwahaahaha

As far as Im concerned, Cortana is dead (from nuclear detonation) and Chief is living out the rest of his days with the UNSC, doing missions like Palmer’s and Majestic team. Everything Halo 5 forward doesnt exist to me, its not acceptable.

I could live with this. Though, remember what happened the last time they gave us a ambiguous ending concerning Chief’s death? (Halo 3)

That’s not reasonable. You may not like where Halo and 343 are going, but the fact of the matter is that they are in control of the story. That’s like saying Dumbledore never died or the -Yoink!- never happened (ok, a bit extreme, but you get the point). You’re just accepting your own headcanon now.

Halo 3 ODST and Halo Reach showed we can have a story without the master chief. ODST was more of a stand alone itself, even though it was set during the Human-Covenant War. In our minds, we always know that Master Chief is one of the greatest heroes in the Halo universe. If he dies, he will always be a legend buried in our hearts and minds. Some might not be okay with that because they won’t accept the death of someone who they grew up with, but you gotta move on.

regardless of the bypassing the filter and all… I 100% agree with this post. 343i broke halo.

Well we already know that Halo6 is the last Master chief Halo. 343i confiremd that.
And with the end of chief I can finally say good bye Halo,
I am sorry that 343 raped you, I don’ t love you anymore.
