My background is I was playing Halo on and off in college with friends. I was pretty bad at it, but still found the game fun I was very inconsistent but normally below -5.0 KDA. I don’t know if it was the sensitivity in Halo 2 or the fact you couldn’t see the screen on 4 player mode which is what I usually played. One thing to note at the time is my COD and GOW KDAs were much better for whatever reason (I don’t remember the exact amount but very close to zero).
Fast forward to now I just started up again with Halo 5 on XBOX One S after almost 10 years of not playing. The past 6 months I am a lot better than I was before. I guess with age my focus has gotten a lot better. I am normally positive now but there are times when I go negative due to some factors I want people to weigh in on:
- Getting ganged up on and cross-checked (shot at from multiple angles leading to dying in less than one second)
- No back-up or coverage and getting charged from behind or snuck up on
- Being the only person playing the objective with no backup and getting outnumbered (i.e. - I have 5 flag grabs and all other team members have ZERO objective markers such as flag defense or offense)
The game is much better (Halo 5 anyway) with more intuitive moves like being able to dash charge etc. But there is a lot I don’t know about. There are matches where the enemy clearly is cheating and I’m not sure how. The time gap between how long it takes me to kill someone with an imperfect shot vs. theirs is way off.
There was just a situation where someone should not have been able to kill me, literally it happened with 2 head shots and their angle was so off (I was up on a base) that they should not have been able to even hit me at all due to a part of the edifice blocking the shot. There are some physics issues OR the person is somehow hacking the game.
I have heard of this but if someone could explain to me how exactly this happens that would be great. My internet connection is 300 MBPS I am currently using a wired ethernet cable and still having some lags which I believe is on the server end. This summer there was a LOT of match disconnects due specifically to server issues it seems. Grifball by far was the worst for some reason.
This game could really be even better but there are quite a few trolls and I’m also getting matched with people with low reputation (Their profile says “Reputation needs work”) who betray and don’t play objectives.
I know a lot of this can be solved by joining a clan. I am about to be at Level 100 before the new year so I want to try joining a few groups. I can hold my own in most matches and the only time I’m negative is when half of the team is negative. I wish I could be one of those players that have a 22 KDA when everyone else is dragging everyone else down. But it’s impossible when you’re getting spawned and 2 seconds later you’re being fired at with an invisible rocket launcher, a shot gunner with an extra shield or 2 snipers camped over spawn areas.
The only way these types of overwhelming situations can persist is when your teammates absolutely suck, aren’t playing for real and/or are complete noobs and have no idea what they are doing strategically. There are some instances where I just see a wraith sitting there not being used everyone is dying all around repeatedly and there are no other options available to turn the tables. Yet NOBODY is inclined to use it somehow??? Now to be fair there are teams you face where it does more harm than good but these weren’t that type of scenario.
Long story short: There’s a lot of pro-tips I need advice on how to get better KDAs in my game because it’s not my accuracy (which used to be my main problem back in the day). My accuracy is consistently in the top 50% of my team but I am being situationally disadvantaged constantly due to the incompetence of my random teammates.
