The Cyclops

The UNSC Cyclops is an exoskeleton that appears in Halo Wars as a building destroyer and a few of the books and has been a popular vehicle among fans of the game and extended universe. Mega Bloks started making sets for these exoskeletons in 2013 and since then has come out with many MANY variants. Jungle, desert, and arctic camos. Off-world, Attack, Heavy Assualt, Containment, and even NMPD. As well as the newly shown Flood, and what appears to be a Miner variant? My question is, are these ten variants canon to the universe? Do you think they are or should be? And lastly, how did New Mombasa suffer all that damage if they had exoskeletons like that?!

Oooh! A toy/canon discussion. I am excited!

Well, while I don’t necessarily think all these variants are canon to the universe, some of them really should be. Having collected most of these awesome vehicles, I will say that each has its own unique aspect that gives it reason to be in the Halo canon. From the Flamethrower on the Arctic Cyclops to the Riot Shield on the NMPD Cyclops, they all have something that sets them apart as a variant.

And, even if the NMPD had Cyclops, the Covies probably eradicated many of them. It’s not exactly a military-grade mech.

On a side note, the “Miner” variant is actually something else, but the name hasn’t been revealed yet. The name is under wraps ATM.

Very curious about the new one. Can’t wait for it’s name to be revealed.

I do wonder how the war would’ve played out had we seen some of these variants in more then just Mega Bloks form. They are described as building killers in Halo Wars so the spires found on Reach cloaking Long Night of Winter Solstice could’ve been destroyed easily using a few of them. If they got passed the EMP fields of course. I mean, one of them has two giant guns on the sides of the cockpit, I think the heavy assault one. That’s scary considering it can also probably grab and throw things and people using it’s hands. I mean imagine being in battle seeing that thing gunning down a ghost while it picks up and tosses grunts and elites around.

Well, I really love Cyclops and if some or all of the variants are Canon, I believe that regular cities nor bigger ones like New Mombasa had many Cyclops units nor that UNSC had reasources to build huge army of Cyclopses. Even if they did, remember how destructive even the regular plasma weapons that the Covenant use are:

“Complete armor protection against plasma is generally difficult to accomplish due to plasma’s high damage ratio. The armor used by the UNSC Marine Corps and UNSC Army usually provides good protection from plasma, but only to a certain extent. A series of hits from a plasma weapon will literally melt or burn the armor, rendering it useless. Likewise, the Spartans’ MJOLNIR armor will eventually give way to the plasma.”
