The customization lies.

175 helmets. every helmet has 5 skins. That’s 175/5. That’s 35. 35 helmets. Nice lying here. 90 % chance that’s the same for armors. so we got 35 armors and helmets. And no interchangable armor. Great. Fantastic.

EDIT: Someone in the comments provided me/us with this. And pointed out that there’s 70 helmets. Understand I made my post at 3:30 pm seing 3 helmets counted their skins and all of them had 5. I jumped to conclucions but I stand by my point. 70 is far from 175. With almost 100 % certainty there will be 70 armors. And I don’t think that comes even close to justifying removing interchangable armors. And that was my gripe from the get go.

Someone also pointed out that it was the community and not 343 who ran their mouths. However the community didn’t get their number out of thin air. Yes they are the cause of most of the hype but the hype has an origin.

Every helmet has skins? What does that mean?

here, count them out: http://i.imgur.com/5wrH7ds.png.

I’m not saying you’re wrong, but here it is for people to look over

I don’t think you’re fully correct. There looks to be way over just 35 helmets…

I haven’t seen a skin for the raider helmet, but I’m probably blind

5 different Mark VI’s?

What all could it be? GEN1, GEN1 scarred, GEN1 w/skin, GEN2 and GEN2 w/skin?

I mean no one’s really lied. The only people saying there are 175 distinct helmets are the community, and you know how the community is: hyperbole central (I am not exempt from this statement).

Most of them had 3 skins, not 5.

There are 70 unique helmet designs(not counting the skins). From the halo reddit, here is a chart.

Hell, even if it was 35 of each armor piece, that is plenty. How many are you really going to use?

Why are you doing your math like that?
If there were 175 helmets (wow!) and 5 skins per that would equal out to 875 helmets (-Yoink-). Perhaps you mean 175 variants / 5 variants (skins) per helmet = 35 unique helmets. Either way, that’s a lot of brain buckets.

Honestly, we don’t need that many. Lol

175 helmets and only ONE helmet has 5 skins. Most have 3, mythics have 2, and special ones have one. Its about 70-71 unique sets.
Dont assume 5 per and do the math wrong. We get almost all of halo 4 armor back and about 15-20 new ones.

We’d be just fine with one universal unchanging suit and helmet that only has the option for colors. It worked in CE and 2 didn’t it?

Honestly, I hope they never go back to that system. Sure, it worked and played just fine without customization, but I liked being able to make MY spartan look different, suit up in some other armor and all that? And trolling people with an all-pink Defender suit and helmet with the Loyalty stance… That was just so goofy of a combination, it was glorious!

While there are 175 helmets there (10 columns * 18 rows - 5 off the bottom) there are also a bunch of skins in there.

I can’t be bothered to count everything because they’re not paired by helmet type (ain’t nobody got time to make a tally sheet and organize that mish mash) and therefore I can’t verify OP’s claim, but the claim that there aren’t 175 unique helmets appears to be correct.

I see Gungnir. I am contented.

Thanks for the link. I think I know what armor I’ll be using.

So no Mark V helmet at launch again?

-_-

Everyone needs to thank this person.

Um… what?
