Exactly. I was actually planning to buy the BP and just work my way, up, but this system is so horrid that it just made my change my mind.
Just had a match of Strongholds where just me and another player were trying to cap on my team the other two were trying to do challenges and it creates a miserable experience. Not to mention I want to do well at the game, but if I want to progress in this molasses of a bp I have to at some point use weapons that don’t work in the scenarios they ask for or wait for a single game type to show up when it’s completely random. That plus the $20 armor packs and I’m getting burned out on this already. It’s the worst parts of live service stuff and I hate it.
I wonder how much PVE will weigh in progression via Campaign.
They are working on a normal linear system like Halo 5 spartan ranks 1-152 then expanding on that every season they have said.
It most likely won’t. This progression system is bad, it’s the worst I’ve ever played even worse than Destiny, and that asks you to make the game a job. I actually hate how this system has affected the way people play and the way the game feels. If this doesn’t change, and I really don’t think it will this game is going to die on the vine because it feels like a Chinese mobile game from a player time commitment standpoint. The foundation is so good and it will be ruined by this.
Getting spartan ranks is not going to fix what actually makes this system bad. It’s the challenges themselves and how they push players to not actually play the game that is cancerous for the lifespan of this game. I’ve not had a single objective game today that had all the players actually playing the objective. It makes me really frustrated because the gameplay is so darn good and it’s being choked to death by monetization and modern game design. I hate it.
I was still getting XP after five games but I guess if you play for any longer and run out of challenges, you are stuck.
I personally don’t mind the $20 armour sets. It’s optional for those who want to give the devs some extra cash and it’s not like you’ll die if you don’t have the set.
At the same time it’s cheaper than other games, where a $20 set would require you to buy $25 worth of currency.
It’s highway robbery. There is never an excuse that an armor set shouldn’t be a dollar or equivalent for each piece in the set. 20$ is absurd and 25$ is no less absurd, even if it was only 1 dollar having a million people buy it would net them tons of money. 5$ is reasonable and if 100,000 people bought it that is half a million dollars. at 20$ only whales and idiots are going to be spending money and while they may buy everything it projects terrible energy into people playing the game to see monetization this aggressive. This is what the cash shop in Fortnite or a gacha game looks like. It has zero place in Halo, Hell even Destiny is better than this.
I agree that the prices are too rich for my blood. I would probably pay $5 for the battle pass, they’ll never get $20 off me for a single armor set.
After playing all day long I can honestly say I have no interesting in progression with slow unlocking rewards is. Not to mention I have pay money to be allowed to use the rewards I can unlock only by grinding for? I’d prefer to be insulted to my face as opposed to having my intelligence insulted under the disguise of it being a new and improved replacement for MCC’s seasons. (Dang there I go referring to MCC)
I don’t care how cool it looks 20$ is actually absurd. I’m so frustrated with this game right now. The gameplay is fun, but the experience is actually ruined by the challenge system and how it changes player behavior and one of the most anti casual player progression systems I’ve ever seen. I don’t have 200+ hours to put into a game in 6 months anymore most people don’t. Why should the progression system only be geared towards those with more money than sense and more time than worries?
What’s crazier is how the game punishes you for playing longer. As you complete more dailys (complete a game), the # of games needed slowly goes up, but the rewarded XP stays the same. So where 1 game used to be worth 150XP, now it’s only worth 50XP. It’s like they don’t even want us to play it.
343 should be ashamed of themselves. 20 years of Halo. Releasing a surprise birthday gift in the form of early access MP for the players, and all people can talk about is how scummy the progression system is.
@Windjammer19 Your first paragraph is not uncommon for mtx systems, it is a way to pace the progress of those that play a lot so they don’t totally leave more casual players in the dust. If you can only play 1hr each day, you won’t be much further behind someone that plays 2hrs each day.
Of course, if someone is unloading their life savings on credits to buy levels, then 343 will happily take it, but then they will have nothing to unlock until the next season releases.
We told them during flighting, and yet…
I will keep commenting on these threads hoping it gets traction. THIS NEEDS TO CHANGE 343!
Everyone did not know. As someone who hasn’t followed closely and wanted to be surprised I am flabbergasted that a HALO game, HALO! does not have a progression system. It is not even hard to design and implement. They just want money that is it. They want to milk us the $60 for the campaign then milk us again for cosmetics that should be earnable. I am so sick and tired of this in app purchase meta.
Incredible, we’ve reached a point where RNG lootboxes feel less scummy than Battle Pass systems with all these behind the scenes metrics and “pacing.”
It’s mad ain’t it… people moaning about an extra that’s not really apart of the game just something that somebody has made up so they carry on playing the game?
The games a team sport.
It’s not a shop sim.
Is their a daily/weekly cap on earning coins? If not it’s better than the previous extra that’s not really apart of the game.
On the 360 halos you either bought the skin or earned it by completing an achievement.
Progression systems are derogative and creates a false sense of enjoyment.
I’d rather we didn’t have one at all. So we can discuss parts of the game that is bad/good.
Rather than moaning about how 343 aren’t paying you enough to play their game.
That you might not even like.
Ikr the lone battlepass progression system its not enjoyable or rewarding and moves at a snails pace. 60 games in and only level 4… would take forever to max out without buying tier boosts! Also dislike how stingey the csr system is in ranked. No stats or win rates… placed in at Diamond 1 and it took me 30+ games to hit D2!! thats also with 20-30 kills most games. Friend was also stuck in his placement rank…Wheres the motivation to grind this?
Not offerimg much incentive to keep grinding ranked or even just playing with no satisfactionn of generically leveling up like with the 1-152 system in H5
