The current progression model is not sustainable

I can’t fathom how anyone at 343 looked at this model and said ‘‘yeah, that’s a good system’’,
unless of course, the main goal is to do one thing and one thing only, sell battle pass levels for 200 points each.

You don’t earn XP from completing matches, you don’t earn XP from doing the objective, you don’t get XP from getting kills.
You get XP from completing 3 matches, or by completing some obscure and sometimes way too difficult challenge.

Let’s take the destroy an enemy warthog challenge as an example, easy, right?
wrong.
First you have to load into BTB, play the match, (hopefully) a warthog will spawn, you better pray you’re holding a power weapon, and then destroy it. Easier said than done.
How about playing a single stockpile match? Easy! I just have to load in and complete it!
wrong.
You only have quickplay, which means you have all the other modes and their respective maps to compete with.
End result? Spending three hours not getting a single Stockpile game.
Great, three hours of ZERO progress.

So what you’re saying to me is that your brilliant gameplay model involves players not getting anything for their time?
That’s how a game ‘‘dies’’. (die, as in losing at the very least, the majority of their playerbase).

I cannot for a second defend this system. It has made me grow tired of the game in just three hours.

Please. Fix it.

Nobody is going to disagree with you. Surely you know they are already working on a normal progression system, right? It might not come at launch but it is coming. Read the blogs might save you some time. Just a thought.

it doesn’t sound like they’re working on a normal progression system. It sounds like they’re just making some changes to their current model.

Sure, they want to add spartan ranks, but nothing has been said what that will do other than add a number on your profile.

I’m in the same boat. I played literally one match and didn’t like the progression and saw that ALL of the armor customzation was behind a pay wall. Played a little bit of training mode and saw how limited the weapons options were, and that was it for me.

The VERY least 343 could do right now is double XP gain while we wait for a real fix.

They are building a new system from the ground up read the outcomes 2 blogs it says it there. 343 have been showing these past years that they actually listen. Let’s give them time. They have a fantastic game here that with a few tweaks could be something special. (maybe)

OH GOD, you just made me realize that they are probably going to parade around “double exp weekends” to try and get hype around this progression system.

No, the MCC team has been listening to fans, the Infinite team has been vague and cryptic.

I really hope they change this or something because it’s ridiculous to play for so many hours just to get ZERO progress

Again read the blog and much of the MCC team was move to the infinite team so your point is flawed. Nobody says this is ideal but they are building one they weren’t cryptic they said one was coming we will obviously get more details in time. Bloody hell the game hasn’t even officially released yet.

It got to the point where I’m driving a chopper up to enemy bots and just hoping they get in, which they never do. Just awful on every level.

The chopper is a single person vehicle.

However, it appears they still haven’t programmed multiplayer bots to use vehicles in any way. Which isn’t exactly a good sign.

I mean stopping, getting out, and hoping the -Yoink!- gets in so I can get the challenge for blowing up an enemy chopper.

Ah, I misread what you posted. Sorry.

But yeah, bots will not use vehicles at all.

My point isn’t flawed. The Infinite team before the move has been vague and cryptic since the beginning. Honestly F2P needs to be axed out of the AAA industry, as do microtransactions.

Everyone knew there wouldn’t be a progression system at launch, but we also didn’t expect the challenges to pay out so little, or be so heavily specific to match modes that you rarely actually get into a mode that allows you to complete them in the first place.

Waving off this concern with “learn that it’s coming” does not address the fact this is a problem that is not going to, but neither can it wait to be addressed until May 2022, (that’s 7 months away) for a fix. This needs much looser “challenges” and much better payouts, stat.

Agreed. Sad to see that corporate greed can’t be satisfied with getting millions of people to buy a $60 game, now they need $10 every three months as well.

I don’t understand this logic. “They’re working on a ‘normal’ progression system, but it won’t be here for launch”??? Maybe, and I’m just spitballin’ here, they could have just made a normal progression system in the first place instead of this abomination we’re currently stuck with. Then they wouldn’t have to waste their time “fixing” it post-launch. They broke ours arms and offered to put us in a cast.

Exactly this! It’s making people not even play the game properly!

Most of the objective game types I have loaded into, my team hasn’t even been playing the objective and are instead doing some obscure challenges by themselves. This is litterally going to destroy this game.

It’s not fun when you load into a game and realize your whole team is playing towards completely separate goals and you are the only one actually playing the objective.

Literally all they had to do was copy paste the system they are using in MCC. With all that time they wasted coming up with this trash system they could have spent putting in more of the gametypes, there are dozens of unique modes from previous halo games yet all we got are 4 modes for arena and 4 modes for btb.

Meanwhile they waste all this time coming up with a broken progression system to try and squeeze as much money as possible out of people but the system they implemented is so bad it actually discourages people from putting any money into the game at all and is so bad it actually hinders gameplay because of the people buying into it and ignoring the objective to get a kill with some random weapon and even ruins slayer because people ignore the deathmatching which was never a problem before just so they can die 20 times trying to get a single kill with some random weapon.

Most of the flaws with challenge based battle pass systems were mostly ironed out in MCC but nope, that system was too refined they had to throw it away and start fresh for absolutely no reason.
