“I’ve just had a thought, could be unrelated but maybe the reason people are placing lower in doubles is because they haven’t tweaked the points you get for performance from 4v4 since you’re gonna be dealing less damage overall in doubles”
I noticed in our post game lobbies the MMR was really low. Like half what they normally are.
What i do not understand is they can show the average MMR score of teams at the end of the match but we have no idea what ours is.
I understand Darwi says it’s a curve but where does that MMR # at the end of the match come from then?
Meanwhile dude at number 1 spot as we speak somehow figured out a way to start matches with half a fireteam to fool the system and bring the team mmr down so that he can play nothing but silvers, golds, unranked, and occasional platinums…all while being onyx 2500 range. Imagine getting that far up there that way lol wow.
When I was playing, the game showed both teams average mmr. The 2 questions I never got answers to were
why, when you have the same fire team of friends does your average mmr number move all over the place after each match while nothing much is even changing sometimes? Like big swings up and down.
what does the second set of numbers represent? I’ve seen 2 teams withing points of each other and then that second set of numbers be some crazy number.
I stopped playing though, idk I just don’t have much fun when I play, I’ve never really liked doubles much so I had no reason to come back. I just got tired of turning my box on feeling like I was having a good day, only for me to become more and more frustrated as I continued to play asking why the heck was I having such dumb matches so often of just dumb stuff happening. Like man there can’t be that low of a population…until you think about it…and accept it probably does have that low of a population.
The dudes game tag is basically right there smacking everyone in the face on halo tracker when you load that website up. He’s number 1. when I loaded that page up I seen that tag and wondered what the matches were like. Quickly got full of disgust. man…bro…like… just go look at this players match history and you’ll be like wtf hows this even possible. Like its beyond boosting with 1 low ranked player. Im seeing tons an tons of matches where its not a full 4v4. Like deliberately loading it 3v3 2v4 3v4 etc. Doesn’t at all seem organically happen or accidentally.
Unless I’m completely missing something, I can’t comprehend how matches start that way for an onyx that’s number 1 on the leaderboards.
Thank you for this thread. I agree with you 100% percent. I like a good grind but me as a solo player, feel the same exact way as you. I’m not playing for 2 days to go up 25 damn points in rank, all this damn grinding is pretty ridiculous. I haven’t played this game in months and I played almost 1000 online games. Didn’t even know they reset the ranks, I may jump back in but I just hate the way the ranking system works. Makes it feel like you’re wasting your time.
I saw how they manipulated the ranked system in crossplay, there’s another player V Action who was rank 1 around a month ago, he made his profile private now and his twitch account was linked to his Halo tracker. He streamed himself doing the exploit method for gaining insane CSR and matches with gold players.
They are both Saudi Arabian players and help eachother with alt accounts. The alt account is an unranked account that has horrible stats, like only 1 kill from 5-6 placement matches. They queue up with their 2400 Onyx account and the alt account, soon as the matchmaking says match found, the alt account immediately leaves the party and the 2400 player farms the gold players 3v4.
Most of their games are probably 3vs3 from players quitting out rather than getting destroyed. Obviously they lose most obj games like oddball and strongholds, but they get an insane k/d ratio. When they finally get a slayer match and win they get the max 15 CSR every match. Rinse and repeat until they reached rank 1.
It doesnt make sense what you said at the end though. When a player leaves a match, it still supposed to show that they were in the match in the report. They’d have to have died a few times and fired their gun before realizing they were going to lose bad, hence their tag would and should still be in the post game report stating their kills, deaths etc even tho they left a minute in.
Something else is still happeneing. When a player that high of a rank uses the derank acounts, normally it will still pull in at least a daimond player now and then. I mean man thats 2500 csr, with some mega inflated mmr with how high the Kpm is from farming.
Like it still searches to fill the gap, but it looks like his team never has the other player even there, or even 2 missing, and the other team start with 3 or 4. In normal circumstances, you’re usually easily able to tell when the player never loaded in, vs a player quitting during the game.
I don’t get it. What a sad individual. Might as well stay in bot bootcamp forever at that point. Then to have a stream about it? Is the purpose of the account to show how easy it is to fool the system or something? That’s so crazy. People do some weird stuff to stroke their ego.
Based on what I saw he was a diamond player before he started exploiting. Everytime he queued up with the alt account he was getting matched vs players playing like bots. I saw a couple of matches he didn’t queue up with the alt account and he was vs high onyx players and got absolutely destroyed and went extremely negative.
The trick is soon as the matchmaking says match found, the player closes their game/quits the party. The game doesn’t recognize that player was in the match and doesn’t penalize them for quitting. But the matchmaking already took their low MMR into account when forming the teams.
The thing I dont get tho…isnt or…wasnt there an update that restricted players teaming up that far apart? And that you can’t team with an unranked account as well?..
They added the rank restrictions yesterday to Crossplay, but before the reset only Solo/duo had the restrictions. That’s why they were only exploiting the crossplay playlist and solo/duo has all actual pro players at the top ranks.
As soon as one loop hole closes - another one will be found. But it’s important to distance the bad eggs from the actual ranking system. The same problems would cripple other systems the same way (and probably be worse because you have slower and less accurate ranks in the first place).
It’s just frustrating when you are struggling to rank up honestly.
But what is even more frustrating is 343 having a CSR system that is open ended. That just encourages the endless toxic grind. I desperately wish they would reduce the scale and cap it with a maximum value.
There is no point having a CSR over 1800 - nobody is going to believe you earned it legitimately.
Just not Halo 5 style. You had a mad dash on day 1 where people frantically tried to rank up as fast as they could to get in the top 200. You’d end up with hundreds of people getting champion - but only around the Onxy 1600 level.
And then mid season you would get a smaller cohort of genuinely good players who were well over 1800. These were probably your genuine champs.
And finally you would get the late season grinders coming through and pinching a few of the spots. Pretenders so to speak.
And that’s before we even touch on the smaller, niche, playlists. A champ in some lists were barely Onyx in other ones.
The best way to “legitimise it” would be to cap the ranking at Onxy 6 (ie. CSR of 1799).
Call any player who gets there a Champion. We are only talking a tiny fraction of the population. It would be well deserved.
And then any game from there that involves 4v4 Champions (with acceptable pings across the board) is for Championship points.
You can then have leader boards for these points (local, regional, international).
At least then the grind is about taking on players of your own level. Of course some people will still sneak into the Champ status by nefarious means - but to keep it and earn Champ points you have to take on and beat other Champions.
You could even have the same points system for each of the divisions; Bronze through Onyx. The only problem of course is having a big enough population to provide enough balanced games.
It would sort of work, but the top guys don’t want to just be a collection of one thing, they all want to fight for the #1 spot
Magic the Gathering Arena has the best system for this imo. You literally have to earn every rank because it always fluctuates, but there can only be a #1 Mythic player
Then on season resets it doesn’t put you down to 0, it takes you back a peg based on your performance. So you end the season a Diamond 3 for instance, and it might kick you down to Platinum 3. Then if you don’t play much ranked that season you lose more rank, etc.
But then Mythic is the Onyx tier, and it goes by percentages up until a set number of the best of the best. All the way to 1.
