The crossplay is very unbalanced

I know the topic of aim assist is relevant in every crossplay game, I do not think it should be changed but some certain gameplay mechanics have given controller uses a huge advantage, and I’m just trying to bring them to light. Playing halo infinite on MnK is a chore, every kill takes more work than any halo before it. The instantaneous direction changing and the close range battles all are very broken when a 1v1 fight is happening between both inputs. A controller player countering fast strafes has a moderately easy time tracking because of aim assist while the same movement on mouse is almost impossible to track and that would be fine but the controller player gets near-maximum ttk because there’s not much difference on their end leaving the MnK palyer losing most gunfights unless they hold back and do not directly engage other players without a large advantage. Most of the forums on this are on Reddit but ill sum up the MnK players criticisms I’ve seen so far. They all feel like their aim is off and players that are generally pretty good at FPS games are losing gunfight after gunfight and it’s really frustrating. Let me make clear I do not think aim assist should be nerfed or anything drastic like that. Most weapons I feel like we’re on equal ground with and although i don’t think MnK players won’t particularly enjoy that, I’m glad that controller players are competitive. However, the strafing inside of aim assist range is near impossible to win especially if it’s with both parties trying to use a sidkick there is pretty much no way to react to the strafes fast enough on a mouse to hit your shots while controller players hit almost all of them. My problem is not that MnK players need to get better at halo to compete its that it’s almost inhumane to counter the speed of strafes and still be competitive with aim assist accuracy in the same scenario. If I could make a suggestion I would say to lower the sidekicks fire rate so consoles cant just spam fire and strafe for a guaranteed win over mouse or slightly slow down strafe speed to where it’s in the realm of being able to be reacted to manually. I see no other way around the issue because if you nerf aim assist controllers will be destroyed but at the moment it appears a bunch of unintentional factors have snowballed into making aim assist very very powerful. Ive been a long time fan of halo I started the series with my uncle when I was 7 on his original xbox and played all games except 5. I really want this game to succeed and i believe it will with just slight tweaks, Thanks for your time hopefully other MnK players will leave some feedback as well.

I think it’s hilarious that 50% of the threads complaining about aim argue that M/KB is OP, and the other 50% complain that controller is OP.

It suggests to me that they actually have the balance pretty much correct.

On mouse and keyboard it’s very hard to win a 1v1 on a mid/long range where the controller aim assist performs at his best and where handling a mouse becomes harder. I sincerly hope they will add the possibility to turn off cross play

No it doesn’t, it suggests people are morons. Watch over the following months, champion will be filled almost exclusively with controller players, and inwould put money on there being no mnk players making top 16 at the upcoming hcs event.

I agree, I think the balance is very good my point was that certain scenarios are very one-sided and are already beginning to be exploited.

Its not, nor can ever be, truly balanced. As of right now though it isn’t even close. Console has a large advantage.

How can you tell what input other players are using? Is there actually an icon indicating what they are using? Or have you just decided that anyone better than you must be using the other input?

I do think they have the balance “pretty much correct” from what I’ve seen so far, but I agree with you that the champion ranks will be dominated by whatever is slightly better. Even if it’s only 1% better, the skill gap and margins of error at the absolute top are so slim that such a level of advantage will dominate.

However, I do not think agree that this means the controls are unbalanced for the purposes of the general population. 99% of players will be limited by their own skill with their chosen device, not limited by the skill of the opponents with a different device.

They have the perfect system already in place in MCC. Player choice regarding platform and input method. There is no single reason not to have this in Infinite. Doesn’t matter if ranked or social…

For the purposes of crossplay arenas, the game is 100% not balanced. There is a clear discrepancy in the average accuracy between inputs (10-15% advantage to controller). This is not just me, but MnK in general.

Champion will be dominated by controller players for the same reason MCC high level play is dominated by controller - the game is designed and balanced around controller. 343 had a chance to engage the PC community with this, but as it is, the PC community will be dead in a month, just like it died on MCC.

At 1:40 you distinctively see how strong aim assist is. It shouldn’t even be up for debate how strong aim assist is. Even pro controller players like Snipedown agree how overpowering aim assist.

So use a controller if it’s so OP

As someone already pointed out, how do you tell what a player is using? Lobby’s are gone (which is a shame) so is everyone just assuming?

Yes, everyone is just making assumptions. I’m guessing 50% of the complaints are from players who are salty they got stomped by bettter players.

No not everybody’s assuming I’m playing on an Xbox One x with performance mode which is supposed to give me 60 frames per second. On a controller that doesn’t work half the time because it goes all over the place.to slow to fast. Aim assist kicking off and on making the radical jump everywhere You can tell almost exclusively who’s on PC. See how they’re doing Midway through the game and if they’re 15 + 5 you can go to recent players and it’ll tell you who’s on PC. PC players automatically have an advantage over console players. I know most PCS running the game at 60 frames per second but even if they’re getting one more frames then Xbox they already at an advantage.

I think people have a serious case of the Yips. Not even trying to be funny but, it all seems like a bunch of nonsense too me. Perhaps I’m joyful in just playing and having fun and not looking for excuses why I lost a match or didn’t kill this person or that

This is a very simple fix. Quick play has cross play. And ranked had input based matchmaking. Problem solved. Unfortunately can only pick input based ranked games if you select solo or duo, no open que option.

Okay bro, very cool that you and a few dozen of your ilk enjoy torturing yourself. That doesn’t mean the community is doing well. It’s effectively dead.
