They convinced me to pay 25 dollars for a season pass that wouldve been cheaper if i would have payed for them seperately. In other words they conned me out of 25 dollars by making it seem like i was getting a good deal when in reality i payed more than what i wouldve if i payed for the map packs seperately.

You people defending this by saying we feel entitled forget why season passes are sold in the first place. Its to make sure they make an automatic profit instead of people maybe just being interested long enough just to buy one map pack. This is like the whole STREET FIGHTER X TEKKEN debacle all over again where we had to pay to unlock 12 characters that were locked on disc.

We payed 25 dollars UP FRONT before the map packs were released just to get them at a discounted price which we in the end had to pay MORE FOR if we purchased the season pass because the first map pass was released FREE OF CHARGE. If i wouldve known this and been given an advanced notice i simply wouldve payed for the map packs seperately.

I love this game as much as the next person and all you have to do is see the amount of time ive spent with the game to know that. Thats doesnt mean im going to be some blinded MORON whos fine with anything a developer/publisher decides to do especially when they offer on item at a certain price point and then sell it cheaper the day that product is released (crimson map pack).

The right thing to do is five us those point back in full since this was a case of FALSE ADVERTISING which is against the law. If i choose ill buy the map pack seperately and if not at least i know what ill be paying for including how much ill be paying for it.

It was already stated by microsoft that it was a mistake this is an official twitter post from them. So I don’t know what the hell that other statement was that someone posted from the xbox forum. I think it is just a cover up so people can stop whining. But as I said in the link below this is what they said.

People with the LE and pass have the right to be mad. They got screwed and lied to by 343i and MS because they paid more to what have been promised to them. You dont see a store charging one costumer and than the same cashay broke and the store says to the next costumer “ohh you dont have to pay because our cashay is broken”.

Not anymore since they will make the people pay on the 18th to continue playing those maps through Live.

XBL Twitter Support has started to answer questions about this, and they did say that after the 18th, they will have to pay for them. Its only a trial, not a limited time offer giveaway.

Except you, and whoever told you that, are wrong. Making the official Crimson Map Pack a “time trial” is physically impossible. Once people download the file that contains the maps, 343 or Microsoft can’t magically revoke our access to them in-game or on our console.

Only case a time trial could occur is if the file has parameters inside that allow for that, similar to how timed multiplayer demos work, and Crimson does not contain these whatsoever. The Crimson Map Pack was never changed in any way since release, it’s the full map pack, files and all. There is no possible way for anybody to “time trial” the maps for those who got the pack free.

The promotion, thus, is allowing for anyone to download the map pack until 12/18.

Dude. MS can just revoke your licence to the product. Simple as that. Next time you log in to live it updates your profile and revokes the licence. No more map pack.

Except I do not believe they can. They would first have to differentiate between people who bought it, got it for free, and got it for free via the season pass, which would take forever.

Second, legally, they can’t revoke the license. MS is making the DLC free for anyone who chooses to download it by the 18th, and once we legally download it, we have a right to the license. Unless there’s some really nice fine print in their agreements or something, revoking everyone’s licenses to the map pack would cause a greater sh*tstorm than what they already have with the LE purchasers complaining about this.

I understand the frustration by the people who bought the LE. Or the season pass. I get that. I did download the maps for free, i clicked the little star, and it said crimson map pack, 0 ms points. Now, if microsoft decides they want them back, as they are horrid at best, then by all means.

I learned my lesson. On gears of war 3, i bought the season pass. New maps sucked, and the upgrades for the 50 extra bucks was beyond putrid. Bought elite for MW3, and to say that the new maps with the exception of 1 were absolute garbage would be putting it kindly. So i figured i would wait, and surprise surprise, these maps are terrible. How about this 343.

Reinvent Guardian, reinvent construct, the pit. get rid of abandon because that map is beyond stupid. make some maps more like haven that actually play to the game style of haven. because what is happening, the majority of people are playing BTB, just so they can get VALHALLA. The only map on the game that is truly worth anything. Then, i will pay for your map packs. Give us a reason. oh, adrift is okay. very similar to the reach map though.

thats just my opinion. OH, and bring back fire fight. some of us like that a lot too.

Also, just to be sure, before I downloaded the pack for free, I checked the “Limits on Use” tab of the download prompt. Nothing was mentioned about access to the maps only until the 18th upon which the license would be revoked. This download is the permanent deal.

Now, if MS decides to revoke our licenses, it would be violation of their terms and the limits of use of the content.

It’s also unsurprising that people may be being misinformed about this by Xbox Support. Only a few have reported Xbox Support stating the “use” would be limited to the 18th. It seems miscommunication is rampant in their department or between them and 343. During the 10 days between November 20th and 30th, when the Specialization codes were supposed to be sent out, I contacted Xbox Support twice about what the situation on the codes was. They claimed that the Specialization promotion was not a Microsoft promotion. Fast forward to November 30th, 343 claims it’s a Microsoft promotion and that we would be getting the emails from Microsoft, which we eventually did.

Very very poor handling of anything regarding Halo 4, by 343 and Microsoft, sadly.

Well I got mines for free. So I’m one of the lucky ones and all this talk about free trial is bull I’m sorry. I ask you what free trial let’s you unlock achievements while you play? Hmmm? Hmmm? Hmmmmmmmmm? NONE!

in YOUR opinion Abandon is stupid, don’t just get rid of it because of an opinion. I like it for flood, team slayer pro, and it’s amazing for SWAT. Everyone has their own opinion, if you don’t like it then dont play it; if people vote for a map than they LIKE it.

Also, Exile and Meltdown are great maps for btb and dominion, those I think are the best. R A G N A R O K (Valhalla) was kind of (IMO) brutally murdered by sprint, the DMR and light rifle, armor abilities, and Ordinance. The mantis actually helped it a little, more objective play than just a wall of fire across the map. The reason Valhalla was so great was because of everyone owning the assault rifle, very few long range weapons, so action was frequent in the middle (whereas now it’s from across the map and if you’re fired upon, there’s no place to run).

That being said, Gaurdian is too small for it to work in Halo 4 in any way shape or form. The Pit would prob have the same fate as RAGNAROK (Valhalla) and the new additions might kill it.

Almost (almost) everyone can agree that Complex can die in a fire (RIP complex).

Firefight similar to ODST would be awesome, but only if 343 would incorporate it properly into the new sandbox of whatever it would be in.

I really think the new maps are great, but I will wait till January, then ask people what they think of the maps and if they are worth it, Wreckage and Harvest look great. So does Krypton but we will see.

Did anyone manage to save the complete terms of use or terms of service that went along with the free Crimson Map Pack? Or does anyone know where I can find it after I’ve downloaded the Crimson Map Pack?

I’ve been looking around online on my xbox.com account and through the 360 dashboard but i can’t find the terms of use that were available before I downloaded it.

I’d like to see if it said anything about the downloaded content being only temporarily available. I’m pretty sure it didn’t, but I’d like to confirm this. If anyone else has already confirmed this, could you please share the source?

I posted earlier yesterday about the Terms of Use for the Map Pack. No where did it say that it would only be temporarily available. Can’t remember specifically what the Terms of Use said, but I guarantee you that it’s not temporarily available until the 18th. It’s the full deal.

Ok for anyone who hasn’t worked this out 10+14=24 not 18. I was on the phone with the head of the Microsoft Customer Advocacy and Exception Management Team and she even laughed at this so I wouldn’t worry about anyone losing the map pack. She told me it was a glitch and that the people that downloaded it will get to keep it and if they don’t then start action through you countries Consumer affairs type department.

As a soon to be lawyer in Austria, Europe, i know that they are allowed to pull the maps from users, who did not pay for the DLC, because these gamers have no disadvantage in not getting content, they did not buy. Downloading DLC doesnt mean you own it, you only have the rights to use it. If Microsoft decides that they do not want players who have not paid to play the DLC, these players can do nothing about it. I really dont know how this is handled in the US, but I would be surprised, if it wasnt similar. As English isnt my native language, sorry for any errors
