The "Create-your-own-sandbox" thread.

The purpose of this thread is to let your mind run wild in imagining brand new ideas for new Halo weapons, vehicles or even abilities. When designing a weapon or vehicle, follow this format:

Saying “yes” here signifies to me that I need to get around to drawing a sketch of your idea. If you say “no”, that is fine, and I will not draw it.

Now that the format has been laid, the special thing about this thread that I believe is worthwhile is that I will sift through the concepts that seem to be the most popular, and I will sketch them. If it’s a weapon, it will be a schematic and first-person view.

Create away guys!

EDIT:
I’ll be linking my deviant homepage here for awhile until we get the catalog updated faster.

Homepage: Guns are in the Gallery.

Name: Z-420 Cardinal Heavy Beam Cannon

Faction: Forerunner/Promethean Remnant

Canonical/Informational Description: Utilizing similar technology to the widespread drone-equipped Sentinel Beam, the Cardinal is a massive Forerunner particle beam weapon used primarily in a defensive role from a fixed position, but is occasionally deployed alongside Knight heavy assault units. Whatever the circumstance, the Cardinal excels, using it’s whirling array of beam emitters to incinerate any who dare challenge the Mantle in a fountain of charged particles.

Statistics:
Support-class weapon, comparable to the human M247H Heavy Machine Gun, and Covenant Type-52 Directed Energy Support Weapon. Weapon suffers from the standard movement speed decrease, as well as a slightly longer killtime than its peers, but is hitscan and fires with the precision you would expect from a beam weapon.

Additional Info: Ironically similar in aesthetic design to early human gatling guns. This crossed with this but Promethean.

Name:

Type-42 Infantry Support Vehicle; “Wight”

Faction:

Reformed Covenant

Canonical Description:
Developed exclusively on Hesduros after the fall of the Covenant Empire, the Wight is Reformed Covenant’s answer to the Specter, which’s production has since been abandoned after the introduction of the Prowler during the Great Schism.

Statistics:

Seating up to four people, a driver, two passengers, and a gunner, the Wight is armed with a driver controlled dual Needlers and a heavy Plasma Cannon that is controlled by a gunner. The Wight is powered by dual gravity propulsion drives that allow it so travel up any surface and boost indefinitely.

Damn, I’d just written a whole post on a Needle Cannon, and it got deleted. Re-do.

Name:
Type-32 Guided Anti-Air Launcher (Needle Cannon)

Faction:
Storm Covenant

Canonical Description:
First documented being seen in the battles of Harvest, the Type-32 continued to see action up until just about after the battle for the human colony of “Kholo”. The Type-32 was a critical component of the older Covenant’s arsenal to assist in removing aerial threats from the UNSC’s lighter vehicles, and has started to show favour among some units seen within the newer body of Covenant.

Stats:
Locks onto vehicles and aircraft and usually kills lighter vehicles in one hit, but heavier vehicles in two.

Once a projectile makes impact, it does it’s initial damage plus that of the hundreds of shards of blamite shrapnel it sends in every direction. Anyone within 15m of impact usually ends up dead, and those within 25m are generally wounded in some way.

In order for the guiding system to work, the weapon must charge to search for an applicable target. This takes about 1-2 seconds.

Additional Info:
None to report.

Seconded. I’ve been yearning for a Heavy Needler ever since I played Halo Wars.

Thirded.

That would make a fun turret.

Also got a nifty new idea for a vehicle:

Name:
UH-148 Heavy Falcon

Faction:
The Insurrection

Canonical Description:
As Venezia grew ever more populated, it attracted more and more “innovative” minds working towards adapting new or already existing weapon/vehicle models. One of which happens to be the UH-148. The “Heavy Falcon” is equipped with a particle beam nose turret controlled via the pilot, and rather than using the middle compartment as a troop bay, a Gauss ball-turret has been installed instead giving the operator full view of any targets below or to the sides. UH-148 models have been sighted occasionally on black markets in the Kig-Yar systems, but have scarcely made any real appearances in combat due to it’s experimental nature.

Statistics:
The UH-148 seats approximately two people, one ball-gunner, and one pilot. The vehicle features increased armor and armaments over it’s original design. It’s new armaments include the Gauss Ball-turret, a Nose-mounted Particle beam, and a Medusa missle-pod system underneath the wings holding up the rotors.

Additional Info:
None to report.

> Type-87 Guided Anti-Air Launcher (Needle Cannon)

I don’t mean to be that guy who nitpicks at little specific details, but Covenant equipment seems to be named based off of their year of classification. For example, the Type-33 Guided Munitions Launcher, was officially classified in 2533. The Type-51 Directed Energy Rifle/Improved was classified in 2551. The Type-55 Directed Energy Rifle/Advanced, the Storm Rifle, was classed in 2555.

Of course, there are some exceptions, like the Plasma Grenade and Energy Sword (both Type-1), and the Gravity Hammer (Type-2) but those may just be errors in Bungie’s naming system. Following this naming scheme would imply that the Needle Cannon was first classified in 2587, many years following the Halo games.

That being said, it’s a great idea! I’ve been dying to see a Heavy Needler since Halo Wars as well.

I did not know that was how the Covenant weapons were classed, thanks for letting me know that. I’ve changed the designation accordingly to “Type-32”

Vehicle
Name: TWP-M8058 Dragon

Faction: UNSC/ONI

Canonical Informational description: Exclusively developed by ONI’s Section 3, the Transitional Weapons platform-M8058 “Dragon” was initially not intended for combat. Stolen plans from Jotun Heavy Industries detailed the Firefly, a non-combat forest-brush clearing vehicle for farmers. Its hybrid ground and air capabilities intrigued Section 3 which quickly turned this humble workhorse into a machine of war, adding armor and a prototype M8058/Defoliant Projector. This project, when proposed to the Security Council in 2554, was banned from Production due to its inhumane method of dispatching enemies. However, ONI prototyped the vehicle anyway and uploaded the finished product to Bravo 6’s War Game’s Simulator to test its effectiveness in a potential Flood Invasion.

The Original JHI Firefly design boroughs heavily from the Covenant Locust’s quadrupedal walking base; This was presumably reverse engineered from Locust wreckage recovered by JHI after the second battle of Harvest. Its flight capabilities came from two heavy duty Turbofan/Turbojet Engines, which made for a sluggish but effective brush clearing tool. ONI further capitalized on this innovation by slimming down the bulky legs and cabin, and adding the latest generation anti-gravity based Turbofan/Turbojet Engines. This allowed for enhanced maneuverability and speed in the air and on the ground. The engines are located on either side of the Locust-style cabin.

Statistics: TWP-M8058 Dragon seats a single Pilot and is armed with a single M8058/Defoliant Projector which can launch flame at medium range. The Dragon possesses medium armor, but requires a vent in the rear of flame thrower to lessen overheating of the gun, and to prevent the cockpit from reaching unbearable temperatures. When venting, a well placed sniper round or two to the flame throwers’ vent will cause the Dragon to erupt into a ball of flames and explode. The vehicle’s speed is medium on land and slightly slower in flight mode.

Additional Info: None to report.

Name

EMP Mine; Equipment

Faction

United Nations Space Command

Canonical Description

Used extensively during the Red Hand raids on New Harmony in 2535 by UNSC Marine forces, the AEM-042 was essential in defending the entrance to a major population center from explosive mounted Warthogs by disabling them before they could enter and potentially claim thousands of lives. Seeing limited service afterwards, the EMP Mine finally regained popularity in the aftermath of the Human Covenant War where it was favored by Spartan IV forces when fighting enemy controlled vehicles.

Statistics

Using a remote sensor with a radius of five meters, the EMP Mine will release a massive burst of electromagnetic pulses that will disable any electronic equipment, be it HUD, vehicles, or shields in a seven meter radius should any target pass through the remote sensor. The mine will last for up to forty five seconds before expiring, which will release half of the damage that it normally does.

A vehicle concept I once created.

Castor and Pollux – the inseparable twins
(Inspired by the Sentinels from the novel Ghosts of Onyx and the Greek mythology)

Faction: Forerunner

Castor and Pollux would be “light” armored and armed (Hardlight cannons), hovering, agile and fast moving vehicles that can only be occupied by a single person. They would be identical in their functions but would have slight differences in their aesthetics to differ which is Castor and which is Pollux (I explain the reason for that later).
So far, with exception of their aesthetical design, weaponry and possible unique maneuvers, they wouldn’t be so special in comparison to the already existing vehicles.
But here comes the twist!
The vehicles Castor and Pollux would always appear as a pair on the map (either 2 for each team or placed together or separately in fair locations) and like the Sentinels from Onyx they are able to unite with each other.
To unite Castor and Pollux they have to be occupied by players from the same team. Are both vehicles arranged in a close range to each other you are able to send a request (via a certain button) to your team mate that tells him that you would like to unite with him/her. If your team mate confirms the request the vehicles unite.
What was separated would now become one, what would mean you achieve double the strength (power and resistance) but in exchange for agility.
The new vehicle (Gemini) would now be controlled by a pilot, who solely pilots the vehicle, and a gunner, who solely operates the weapon: a powerful Sentinel Beam.
To prevent that the positions of pilot and gunner get distributed randomly, the player who controlled Castor would always become the pilot while the player who controlled Pollux would always become the gunner (that’s why the slight differences in aesthetics).
The players would also be able to separate through the request and confirm system again but only to a certain degree of taken damage. The received damage on Gemini would get split equally on Castor and Pullux after separation.

Differences in aesthetics: Castor blue lights, Pollux orange lights
United form: Gemini, white lights, bright golden Sentinel Beam

Wow, that’s a brilliant vehicle idea! It really shows off the Forerunner tech as being far more advanced and alien than even the Covenant’s technology, and really plays well with their constantly changing/combining nature. I love it!

Thanks. I’m glad that you like it.

I’ll have finally finished the Cardinal Beam by this afternoon and be starting the Wight. Academics and Crew are squeezing time out of me like mad.

Andycu5, I just noticed you added my Dragon under the weapons list, it is a vehicle.
I hope more ideas start pouring in, I always enjoy reading these threads and all the creative weapons, vehicles etc. that the community comes up with.

Whoops, sorry about that.

Also, just to make sure that these miscalculations don’t occur in the future, please make sure that you clearly specify what it is you’re making.

This applies to everyone.

Name

IMP-07; Ionized Munitions Pistol

Form of Item

Weapon

Faction

Office of Naval Intelligence; REAP-X

Canonical Description

Developed alongside the PREFECT armor system in 2554, the IMP-07 is a highly compact sidearm that fires ionized particles which can make short work of any defense, be it armor, shields, or flesh. Additionally, the IMP-07 is often used by Spartan IV forces that operate on classified intelligence operations (these SIV’s also wear the Prefect armor, of course) that involve grabbing Forerunner artifacts before others can get their hands on them.

Statistics

In essence, the IMP-07 is similar to the Boltshot, but it’s roles are a bit different. With an eight round magazine and a rate-of-fire of 1.5 RPS, the weapon has an effective range of up to 90 meters, which makes it an ideal choice for supplementing a mid-to-long ranged rifle. Additionally, the IMP-07 can combine shots at a significant cost of range, which will deal twice the damage at a quarter of the range.

Additional Details

The IMP-07 is a creation of mine in my Halo 5 Script, which I’m close to finishing.
