I was playing some SpOps working to get my lvl 70, happened to be on mission 2 of episode 3. Everything’s going great; i’m blowing up baddies and this one A-hole marine that managed to survive keeps stealing my assassinations but it’s all good. I go through the objectives accordingly all the way until the very last pelican. I don’t think I was quite prepared for what I saw next…
So a jackal comes through the front gateway of the main structure (Galileo base/complex is the location fyi)so I decide to wing a grenade at it. all of a sudden I see weapons scattering across the ground that I didn’t notice were there before. Then they start shooting me! I am completely confused at this point, and at first I think I’m getting attacked by autonomous weapons. I get killed a couple times trying to kill them (grenades were effective where shooting was less so), and then I notice a little stringy skeletal thing appear after I kill the “weapon”. Attempts to investigate this ended with me getting mowed down by the rest of the rogue rifles, but I was finally able to get a good look at one of the craziest thing I’ve ever seen once I thinned out the crowed.
Mini Covenant.
That’s right, behind these weapons were tiny versions of elites, jackals and grunts. maybe about six inches tall. I was under attack by action figures! They had hit boxes to match too, making the weapons themselves a more viable target than the little mini aliens. Needless to say once I figured this out it was a lot easier to handle them (more shooting and less looking).
Has anyone else seen this? It’s crazy! Maybe you can replicate it if you play on that mission.
im not calling you a liar, and i know they didnt include spartan ops theater, but from my point of view, i do find this hard to believe, but with all the screw ups so far…it likely happened

Oh, trust me, I wouldn’t believe it either if I hadn’t seen it myself. I didn’t really catch on until I saw the shields of the elites and jackals.

lmao. Can this be replicated or does it just happen randomly? the little Elite getting mad and trying to melee lol wow. they should have squeaky voices too.
I really don’t understand how that glitch is even possible. The only explanation I can come up with is that the way the Phantoms “grow” from a smaller model at the edge of the map also applies to the troops inside, rather than just spawning full-size Covenant when the ships the right size.
For whatever reason, the game maybe forgets to upscale the troops.
Happened a few times to me, mostly on Galileo Base, but one time it was on “Spartan Mountain”.
The UNSC’s most powerful warriors getting wrecked by tiny Covenant with guns that are actual size to what they should be and the Covenant turn from 2 mm tall to stringy skeletons. Thats just hilarious if that actually happened in actual Halo canon.
How I imagined “So a jackal comes through the front gateway of the main structure (Galileo base/complex is the location fyi)so I decide to wing a grenade at it. all of a sudden I see weapons scattering across the ground that I didn’t notice were there before.”
After quelling most of the covenant forces outside Galileo base, I headed to move in, assisted only by an injured marine - save my team.
As I was headed in, it happened. I heard a noise, and the thoughest looking Covenant I had ever seen creeped slowly from around the entrance, weilding a Covenant Beam Rifle. A Jackal - quick and willy; the demise of the unattentive.
Drop them before they drop you.
He towered above us, unusually tall for it’s species.
I wasted no time - I immeadeately reached for my grenade belt and pulled a frag, set it live and chucked it at his feet, leaping for immediate cover, as did my team.
-BOOM-
A quick moment later, I peered over the rock to see through the dust that the Jackal still standing in the same spot, in a statue-like manner, seeming unaffected at all by my explosive.
“What?”
It was then that I noticed he was assisted by numerous Covenant turrets. Were they there before?
It didn’t matter.
