The Covenant looks very disappointing in H4.

Based on what I’ve seen so far, I believe that 343i is taking a very disappointing direction with the Covenant in Halo 4. The Covenant is not looking like they’re going to be nearly as advanced and intelligent as they should be.

Just look at a Halo 3 Elite and Halo 4 Elite for example. The Halo 3 Elite looks far more advanced and intelligent then it’s Halo 4 counterpart. The same can be said with the Grunts (H3 Grunt/H4 Grunt) and the Jackals (H3 Jackal/H4 Jackal). The Halo 4 Covenant just look… primitive when compared to their Halo 3 counterparts, and ultimately just don’t look as threatening. Also when compared to the Spartan IV’s, they don’t look nearly as advanced as the Spartans do even though they are thousands of years more advanced then the UNSC.

Now I know that the Prometheans are the new hyper advanced badasses in town, and I can’t wait to see what fighting them is like. But 343i should have kept the Covenant looking as powerful and intelligent as they were in past games instead of giving them the primitive and savage as they have now.

Just a thought

I think they look gangster.

The Covenant was fractured, their war production machine was shut down, whatever is left of the Covenant barely scraps by with whatever they can get. It’s not a surprise they are like this.

But the Storm Covenant isn’t really the Covenant we all know, just a band of Elites, Grunts, Jackals and Hunters who cling to the faith and believe their god is on Requiem.

Stop complaining people.

IMO they look better.

The grunts and jackals look right. The Elites probably will too. That might just be a bad picture.

Well since the covenant disbanded alot has happened n then those storm covies are like scavengers thier supposed to look like theyve well been through hell i guess srry for my less of knowledge x.x

I think they look more Alien, which is good considering they looked simmiler to some creatures on Earth and not the species-from-another-planet they’re supposed to be.

Well the covenant is fractured now and is nowhere near as formidable as it was before. 343 has also really tried to emphasize that the covenant are aliens, and because of that are making them much more fierce and strange. You also have to remember that all the covenant species except for elites weren’t very advanced until they met the prophets, and now that the prophets are gone they probably going back to that.

You should have said bye to the Covenant in Reach.

Jackals were interstellar merchants and pirates before the Covenant.

and there is a lore/in game reason WHY they are like that like others pointed out. I love it

I don’t know man, they look freaky as -Yoink!- now, I love it.

I had no knowledge of this ‘Storm’ faction

Shrugs Well I still think they could have looked cooler, I just hate this whole new savage look…

the prometheans are way -Yoinking!- freakier

I think for the first time in the series, the Covanant look like a bunch of badasses and are kind of scary.

I don’t care too much for it either. But I can at least understand the reasoning behind it. Still, I hope we see the Loyalists again sometime, I’m curious to see how the Brutes handle the Covenant being war machine crippled and limiting their options and how the few surviving Prophets control them. If anyone were to become savage, it’d be the Brutes.

because they are supposed to look like sierra Leone guerrilla fighters compared to navy seals

Regardless of the reasons for their look, I personally think they are just as good graphically than have ever been. The H4 grunt seems to have a bit of a chip on his shoulder and makes him seem more menacing. When really, we all know grunts aren’t menacing anyway. I really like the Jackals in H4. I just think they have a more aggressive look to them. As for the elites, to me, their armor seems a little more ergonomic and makes it easier for movement. They aren’t only just fighting Spartans, they are fighting super fast Prometheans. They need to be as limber as possible.

I have no qualms with 343i’s vision with them.

Yeah I don’t like the new look either but it does make sense with this new Storm faction so I can live with it. What I want to know is why change the jackal’s anatomy? The elites and grunts still have the same overall shape but the jackal’s have a way bigger head now. Did 343 developers have a hard time getting head shots on jackals before?

I think that the Covenant look awesome in Halo 4. I think they look a lot more menacing like the Jackals. It’s great to see them recieving a reboot.
