The Covenant Had Their Chance

This is just a theory/what-if. Ignore the release dates of the games and just focus on the story and chronological events.

If Reach had gone a little differently, the events of Combat Evolved would have been prevented. It all counted on one Elite. One Elite had the chance to win the war for the Covenant, but he decided to get an easy kill instead.

Remember when NOBLE Team was running to the bunker before New Alexandria got glassed? Remember when Kat got shot in the head and killed by the Needle Rifle-wielding Elite? If that Elite decided to shoot Six instead, the whole war would have been over right there. Think about it; without history’s second-greatest Spartan to deliver Cortana and clear an escape route for the Pillar of Autumn, the UNSC wouldn’t have stood a chance. Anything less than Six wold have resulted in the PoA blowing up and taking Master Chief and Linda (according to CE Anniversary) with it. Overall, I think the galaxy’s pretty lucky that the one Elite chose Kat instead of Six.

Disagree. Reach was made after CE so it had to end the way it did. But either way if the prophets would not have caused The Great Schism the war would have ended differently.

I know that, but I guess I worded things wrong. Think of my theory as a what-if; ignore all the release dates and stuff and focus on the story. Do you still think the same way then? As for The Great Schism, that really was the nail in the Covenant’s coffin. It paved the way for Chief and Arbiter so they could stroll up and kill Truth due to his resulting lack of numbers and Tartarus.

EDIT: Put the what-if statement up top.

Literally just finished the campaign two days ago. I like the scenario you bring up, but I still think that PoA would be fine and the package delivered with no issues. If 6 dies then, maybe Jun goes with Carter & Emile? Jun would provide cover fire from range at the landing platform/gun area at the end of the mission, and Emile would use his shotgun to take out all the brutes up close… honestly, makes more sense than the game in a way now that I type this. Carter maybe still dies, but what if Jun see a path around the scarab that a sniper would see with his practices reconnaissance. Just throwing out counter theories for fun, but I do firmly believe it would have ended the same way.

Well if Jun was with Carter and Emile than he would more than likely die the way Six did and he wouldnt be able to recruit for the Spartan IV program.

I don’t deny it’s likely he would have died, but if we are going with hypotheticals, I think my assumptions are a possibility. The truth is that we don’t know, and will never know. All I was saying was that anything could have happened differently. Jun could have died, or Jun, Carter, and Emile could have all lived if Jun’s skill set would have served them better… unlikely maybe, but a possibility. Either way, I guess the original point was that if the Elite picked Noble 6, I feel that the rest of Nobel Team would have made sure they got Cortana to the Pillar of Autumn (heck, even Kat’s tech skills could have played a role in the latter stages). Just my opinion though.

Guess things might have been different if the Blue Team were sent to Reach as support for Noble. Just my thoughts.

1 needle to rule them all,
1 needle to find them,
1 needle to bring them all and in the darkness bind them

Holy crap that’s nerdy.

I love this

I wouldn’t say it was an easy kill. The elites see the spartans as Spartans at this point. Kat seemed just as good as six he didn’t see it as “that Spartan is better than that one” it wasn’t untill chief blew up the ring the covenant realized the chief was not to be dealt with lightly. Also six wasn’t the only Spartan who could of done it. It’s not like he was on another skill level of every other SIII and this is from the books and vast halo lore. There are other SIII’s who are the same skilled if not better than six. So idk your what if is a big what if but I liked it lol

when kat was shot she didnt have her shield up yet and its safe to assume everyone else did so killing 6 wouldve taken more than 1 shot
