The Covenant Civil War

Does the Covenant civil war conclude at the end of Halo 3, or is it just beginning?

I’d like to see the MC storyline picked up as war between Loyalists and Seperatists over Sanghelios rages.

As far as we know, the civil war continues. It started around the time of Halo 2. So, yes, I guess you could say it’s just beginning.

It’s difficult to say… I mean, there is no doubt that warfare will continue between Brutes and Elites. and possibly Brutes and humans, but it isn’t exactly a “Covenant Civil War” anymore.

After the assassination of the Prophet of Truth and the remainging San 'Shyuum went into hiding, the Brutes were left without guidance and reverted to their savage and barbaric ways. Many Brute packs and tribes separated from the Covenant and waged war on each other based on tribal rivalry. So now, rather than a “Covenant Civil War,” it’s more like an “Interstellar Multi-sided Brute Civil War.” I could imagine several Brute factions waging war on Sangheilios or Earth, though.

It is unknown what happened to the rest of the species of the Covenant, but it is likely that they lost interest and returned to their Pre-Covenant ways. Or, perhaps the Brutes enslaved some of the species, like Grunts.

Tensions begun when Regret left earth and Truth ask the brutes to kill the elites. Proven in Halo 3: ODST.
But the civil war started in the Halo 2 level Gravemind at it’s the first level to have elites vs. Brutes and that previous the Brute Chieftain Tarturus betrayed the Arbiter because the Prophets ordered him to in the Halo 2 level Quarantine Zone.

I would like to see a “Return” era story, maybe from a ultra’s perspective maybe. I would appreciate a video game title that you play as a Separatist Sangheili. Some people really don’t care for playing as elites but, in my opinion they open a unique play exp.

Starts at the end of Halo 2 and finishes at the end of Halo 3 with a few skirmishes here and there.

The little turmoil shouldn’t be a main story line in the next Halo. It should be focused on the bigger universe, the origin of the flood, why the forunners couldn’t catalog their own DNA like the did for the other species, and why they took so long to re-act to the flood, maybe because it was the one thing they knew nothing about? How did the flood come to be aswell?

343 is going to amaze us. Since Halo Legends: Origins was superb.

wait I thought the civil war started in Halo 2?

It does.

ah
then i must have read the OP wrong

anyway i beleave it ends sometime in Halo 3

I could have sworn it ended by the end of Halo 3. Besides, the level “The Covenant” should have wrapped up the end of the Covenant force itself since it collapsed.

The Covenant is no more.

That’s not to say there are no more San’ Shyum or Jiralhanae.

I think I meant to say the Elite Civil War rather than the entire Covenants. Since the Covenant is no more.

But what about the Elites who remained loyal to the Prophets, and the Elites who supported the Arbiter, surely there is unfinished business?

Non remained loyal. Half-Jaw took command of most of the remaining Sanghelai forces and at the end of Halo 3, they left for their homeworld with the Arbitor.

Aha, the Prophets ordered the Brutes to kill all of the Elites. It’s extremely doubtful any remained loyal…

Really there is no “Civil War”. The Elites sided with Humans.

Even though it was not shown in game, Grunts, brutes, and jackals were also part of the seperatist army, but was not implemented into the game. Bungie’s excuse was “They would be mistaken as non friendly.”
Seriously?
It would have been awesome to have some hunters as help, since they would have slaughtered everything on the field.
