The consequences of Halo: Infinite's monetization

I really care about customization in Halo games, ever since Halo 3 I’ve loved it, being able to customize my character with items I earned and see other player’s customization is important to me, with that said, I’ve noticed some interesting consequences of Infinite’s monetization scheme:

  • I saw a player wearing a rare armor set with a white coating, all I could think was: Wow he actually paid 20 dollars for that.
  • I saw a player with items unlocked much later in the battle pass, and I wondered “Did they just buy all that or are they really dedicated?”

Players being able to buy everything and in some cases being forced to buy armor and colors has completely taken any meaning out of the customization system for me and its very saddening.

While I feel like I’m wasting my time giving feedback on this, my proposed changes are:

  • You should not be able to buy levels in the battle pass, or xp boosts, at all.
  • The store should not exist. If it absolutely has to them items inside it should be earnable through gameplay.
