The community is doing 343's job

Okay so this is kind of a joke thread but still pertains to the truth. Now we all know that 343 are very……slow when it comes to making gametypes for Halo 5, but Super Fiesta was that one gametype EVERYONE wanted, well what if I told you, that 343i hasn’t been using “their own ideas” for some of these gametypes? I’ll bet a fan said something like “Wouldn’t it be cool if we had a version of Fiesta slayer with ALL the weapons in the game and not just the basic ones?” then Super Fiesta happened. I dunno it just seems like Super Fiesta was a GOOD idea and given 343’s track record, doesn’t seem likely they came up with the base idea for it. Now then let’s move on to the point, I’ve been seen threads recently claiming people are having trouble finding enough people in social playlists like Warzone Assault, and BTB, why? Simple, no variety, ENTER THE COMMUNITY! Custom Games, custom games offer SO MUCH variety compared to matchmaking it’s almost too much to bare. Think about have 343 done ANY of the classic map remakes? No, the Forge community has, have 343 made modes like splatter monkey, and fat kid? No, the community did. The point being, we as a community are doing a better job of keeping Halo alive with our own custom modes than the devs are, this is cool, but not ok on the devs end, there needs to be SOME effort. Then again maybe the community should be put in charge of gametypes for future Halo titles, y’know make suggestions to 343 via twitter and such, it’d probably make Halo 6 better than it will most likely turn out to be.

Lol, the community has been a big part of keeping Halo going since the beginning. In my opinion it is one of the things that makes Halo great. It’s a little give and take with the devs and the community.

Well in this case:

Devs: Take

Community: Give

I remember seeing a gamemode in Halo 4 made by a player. Then after a few months it was sent to match making. No credit was given to the guy who made the mode. 343 took his idea, changed maybe one little detail, and gave him no credit. 343 isn’t good at making everyone happy.

And people wonder why I “blatantly hate” on 343, there’s one of the many, many reasons.

What game mode was that? I remember community maps that we voted on and they were added to matchmaking.

I believe it was Race. Not %100 on that, but it would explain why race is absent in H5.

I think 343 has the ideas, I’m sure one of them thought it would be cool to have req fiesta long before reqs were even announced.

That’s part of being a video game dev, finding fun and intresting ways to combine and create fun experience.

It couldn’t have been race. Race has been in Halo before Halo 4. I remember playing it in Reach.

Race was in CE.

I mean its not like any community game-modes ever made it into the Bungie games, cough infection cough grifball cough.

It sounds like you hate on them with no evidence. Yes, mistakes have been made, but just taking what one guy says as fact without any proof is a little irresponsible in my opinion.

So what you’re saying is that you don’t want 343i to listen to Community Feedback and implement said feedback?

Pretty much.

There is literally no point to this thread. First you say that 343 didn’t probably create super fiesta because you like it (wow even the stuff you do like, you manage to make 343 look bad somehow), which is totally uncalled for and just plain stupid. Then you say that there’s no variety (which isn’t true at all) and you’re angry that we create customs games and not 343, which has literally always happened. You also get mad because 343 isn’t forging classic maps, when all forgers do is make good maps. This thread offers nothing and deserves to be locked. InB4Lock.

Well this is funny indeed.

First, you never get to ask or say “Does 343i listen to the community.” or “343i never listens.”

Second, the community creates new gametypes through the systems given by the dev.
As the biggest and bestest example:
Infection existed in H2 as a custom game, where in H3, the scripting was made possible to allow its full integration. From there, nuance gametypes of “Red Rover” were created, in the name of Infection/Zombies.
Forge given in H3 was what allowed small maps to be introduced by the community. Until Foundry, maps were medium to large sized. Nothing like Wizard existed, and needed a community to recreate.
And through Foundry, and eventually Sandbox, haunted houses and castles were created, for more fun than the modified dev created maps.
It’s not observant to see communities creating things through the tools given by the devs, asked for or not. It’s just ignorant to be spiteful to nearly everyone involved.

The community making game modes on Halo is nothing new…and Super Fiesta isn’t exactly a difficult concept to come up with. And even if they did get the idea from someone, doesn’t that just mean they’re listening?

Let’s just hope that what seems like a lack of attention to H5 from 343 is in actuality just that they are focusing on making H6 that great. Not that it matters that the Halo turnaround for sequels is long enough to warrant a very attentive dev team to keep the community alive until the next one.

Race wasn’t in 4 though, I remember somebody modded it in then 343 took credit for making the mode.
